Allen! Have you considered CNG?

I have been looking at the benefits of running CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) or propane in my truck. The closest dealer i have found that can install a kit is in Austin but the problem is you have to use his computer and timing. Have you thought about putting a kit together and putting it on these trucks? The parts are not the expensive part that the guy sells it is his labor and tuning.

Propane has an octane rating of 110-120.
Natural gas has never cost more then gasoline.

If you were able to put a kit together i would be all over this.

I saw the episode of Trucks were they installed the Roush kit on the F150. Pretty interesting stuff, it would be cool on a GM.

I was looking into this when gas prices were sky high, however, now propane isn't much less than fuel right now.

ive drove propane trucks before, feel very slow. it burns much cleaner though.

What would it take for you to put a kit together and do you think we would see performance gains for the higher octane?

theoretically yes but every one i have ever seen is slow so i dono its prob all in how you have it set up

ive got an 81 rado on propane...quite a few people around here run it on older trucks

i wouldnt do it. i work on natural gas engines (350ci,454ci,5.9cummins,8.3cummins,3304cat,3306cat ) for a living. you lose alot of power on NG, there always burning valves and needing new heads.

example, we use your basic chevy sb, all stock except for headers and edelbrock intakes and they only make 78hp, there rated for 174hp on gasoline.
