I just put in some polk audio in the front on my stocker adn it sounds really good.
I'm putting in 6X8 Kappa 682.9 2 way in place of the 4x6. I had a previous post about the install. Now, The speakers will play fine for a while, then stop playing. They will not resume playing until I remove the passenger side rear speaker. Then, I can reinstall it and they will play again. I think I have a ground issue, but not sure. Any way to tell?
Sounds like you are pulling to many ohms from your head unit.
Any way to check if this is the problem?
You said the infinitys are 2 ohm and your factory ones are 9.5?
Yep. factory Delco 4x6 plates. 9.5 ohm
Id say thats your problem. But just to see, use the positive off your left speaker and the negative off you right speaker and then run a wire from your left neg to your right positive and see if it produces sound for a longer amount of time without shutting off. With this set up you will be running at a higher impedence.
I'll tell you some more info...the speaker i'm talking about will produce sparks when the basket is touched to ground. Not always, but sometimes. I can remove the speaker, lay it on the seat, and it will play for as long as I want.
Is it just one of the speakers or both and have you tried another aftermarket speaker to see if it do this?
As far as I know, only the 1 speaker. The other side never gave me this problem. I haven't tried another speaker. I don't have anymore 6x8 speakers to try. The components I put in the doors work perfect. I can put the drivers side rear in the other side mounted and I have no problem. But the other speaker, why only gronding out sometimes not all the time?
Sounds like somethings screwy with the one speaker.
Thats what I think too. I'm gonna send them back and get a new set. I hope that's the problem.
I ran into this when I did an install on a pt cruiser. Both the speakers grounded out and sparked. So I had to use plastic fasteners and insulate the back of the speaker. It was a big mess but the customer wanted it done.
So, is the speaker bad or should I use plastic fasteners and insulate?
Id say the speaker is bad. but you can try to insulate
Thanks for the help. I'm gonna send them back and start with a new set.
Welcome. Let me know if you have any more audio questions.
