I went today to get my 410s and G80 put in there both for a 10 bolt 8.5 and he took the stock stuff and went to put in the new in and said it wont work! What should i do????

Uh, find out why they won't work.
You need 8.6 stuff bro. Your truck has 8.6 rear... the obs have 8.5. You might get away with swapping out the bearing on the g80 to an 8.6. the gears you have should work as they are the same on both styles.
He said that the G80 is the worst posi u can get and that it wont fit and he tried swaping the bearings on it and that wouldnt work! So most likely ill just put the G80 back on ebay and the gears? Do you think theyll still fit being 8.5??
The gears are the same, just need to get you a quality carrier.
How would a 8.6 detroit true trac work with the 8.5 410s???

Well i talked to my mechanic this morning about the gears and he said the 8.5 410s wouldnt fit in my housing! I was just wondering if he really knows his stuff?
8.5 and 8.6 gears are the same. He sounds full of it. The only way the gears wont fit is if they are lower than 2.76, or higher than like 5.10 or something. IMO, find a buddy that does know what he is doing. And do it your self.Quote:

like they said 8.5 8.6 gears are the same.ive even used 8.5 and 8.6 gears on the same eaton posi unit.it worked ,the 8.5s were out of a 80s camaro and i put them in my truck with my 8.6 eaton unit.
