The 5.3L is a motor than can get into the 13s on bolt ons + cam. With those mods and spray--you can get into the 11s.
yea i was runnin 13.669s with my 01 same motor but im wonted to brake 12s with out spray so i was thinkin a head swap would be in order i have already looked into an ls6 intake swap i no that would help me in the higher rpms but thanks for your input no one is replying to this thread ha ha
You could by my short block and have it bored and stroked.
Keep the 5.3L. Do a TBSS LS2 intake, get some 799 heads and have them ported and polished with a 3 angle valve job. With the LS2 intake, you will have a 90mm TB. Of course, do headers, pulleys, a sick cam, a stall, and tranny upgrades.

what size cam do you sugest with ls2 heads

work over the 5.3 heads. youll lose compression with the ls1 heads.

tx what all bolt ons do you have thats putin you in 12s i couldin manage to go faster than 13.669 with my orange truck and i thalt i had just about everything bolt on wise
LS1, Patriot stage 2 heads, 226/226 112 cam, 4.10 gears and a converter. hoping to hit 11's with the new 231/239 111 cam and have solid 11's with a ported fast 92mm..then im curious to see what it will do with the nitrous.

ram air hood role pan 3/6 drop 20s ps2 tv..... ls6 intake k&n cai lt headers off rd y pipe flow master with turndowns malory coil pacs air aid spacer slp fuel rail 42lbs injectors built 4l80e by a locale drag shop and tuned by rwtd dyno tunes built rear end with 3.73s and true locks cowl tracks 90mm tb and bosh indexed plugs and the heads wear just ported and shaved i think thats it
no thats pretty good,you still got stock internals and stock displacement,you ran that time on the 20's i didnt know they made cal tracs for the trucks thats cool i got a set on my nova m/t radial car
i ran the 13.669 on some 18 in m/t with hoosler slicks the fastes i ran with 20s is 13.9 cuz i spun thru 2nd and yea they don really help that much the big thing is getin some wait in the back i had 300lbs in my bed

i couldin tell you man i sold that truck 3 weeks ago and got my 04 ecsb but it wasin much that thing was runin 13s every time and would still stretch out i dono how fast it would go but i got clocked by my budy who is a hwy patrol at 162 and i got a mouth full for that ha ha i ges cuz i didin go all the way to a 4.10 or 4.11 like most guys i had alot of top end
