Not real sure...99-02 is the best body style IMO. :D
I have seen people do the denali front end on your trucks. I dunno about ours
not sure if i follow you....are you asking if ppl have done the 03+ front end on your truck year?
or are you asking if ppl have done the swap for the 99-02 bodystyle? ive thought of it several times of making my truck into a SSS replica but then realize i like my Xtreme look i got going on. the 03+ looks like sh1t unless its a SSS theme or a big lifted up HD.
If youre asking about converting yours to a 03-07 classic front end...I have seen 1. It was the cover truck on truckin either one or two issues ago... Check out their site and I'm sure you will find it...if I remember correctly it went into detail about the swap...
But yeah I agree 99-02 GMC has the best front end :D
I am sure it involves the fenders, hood, grille, lights, bumper, core support, and some other brackets. It would be easy if you had a 03+ truck to take things off so you could see what is needed.
But really--why ruin the better looking truck front end for an uglier truck front end?????
I think the core support might stay but the big plastic thing that the headlights mount to probably needs swapped along with the filler under the grille, the grille, lamps, hood, fenders, and probably the front bumper (although it might adapt).
no i am asking because i am looking into getting a stock RCSB 2000 4.8 5 speed, thats white and swapping my drive train into it, im in love with the NBS classic trucks, cant help it just some thing wicked amazing to me about them. so my thoughts would be to swap the 99-02 front end for the 03+ classic front end but with the higher rise hood like the "HD" hood for the 03+ classic so to speak, its just got a bigger rise on it. just wondering wahts involved trying to figure what its going to cost me and how hard itll be. i know as far as swapping the drive train goes it will be pretty tit, same deal and im sure i can use the 4.8 harness or have it modded if need be, my dilema is what to do with my empty truck shell after the thought? part it out? put a new motor in it and sell it. im not quite sure at this point in time. if i lived in texas i would sell it but here in maine theres a smaller want for a 2wd somewhat show truck made for the 4 months of good weather we get a year... so any thoughts or opinions would be great! thanks guys.
Eh, don;t mess with it. Keep your OBS truck the may it is and don't mess with a newer one.
Or if you are tired of it, go ahead and swap stuff over. Some of us can never get enough of projects! But I would do an '06 front end swap over an 03-05. I like the grille and hood on the 06s.

you say a white 4.8 :)
this front hands down better then that slant eye front end....unless the full SSS conversion
yeah i know what your sayin tyler, but ive been obsessed with the classic NBS trucks since they came out,
and quik ive seen some 99-02 front ends i like but my eyes love the 03+ classic and yeah id be doing the full SS conversion most likely.
and to be honest, i do miss the project man this winter SUX all last winter i was out in that garage bustin my balls but i wouldnt trade it for sitting around all winter. i duno i have a LOT of $$ tied up in my OBS im just tired of the ole school look, and the issues, ive had it since i was 15. i duno ive just been lookin for a local NBS truck with a 4.8 5 speed cuz i cant live without a manual, im going to check it out friday and see what the deal is with it. sumthin bout white and chrome jus really gets me.
have fun with the t56 swap in the truck. if you have any questions i know a thing or two about it and its flaws
I like the cat eyed front end. One of the main reasons was the ease of headlight removal. My 97 takes like 30 mins to take the grill of then take headlights off. My old 04 took about 1.5 mins. I also like the hd hood, and a good example is Midknightriders truck. I think 02's look good, but I like the 03 better, and NBS is nice too.
lol THATS THE BEST PART id have a NBS truck with my 5.3 t-56 right back in it and wouldnt have to change squat as the motor is an 02 anyways. all id be doing is lowering it, wheels, front end conversion, rear end, 4:56's, bars, slicks and track time. i duno if id notch my frame again... **** kinda sketches me out at the track... ill keep ya guys posted.
I've always wanted to have a tahoe with the nbs frontend. I saw one a while back and I thought I looked pretty nice IMO
Good luck bud
Chris
The 99-07 all are easy to remove the headlights on but so what? How often does anyone do that?
I think the 03+ looks way better but I think the 07+ looks better than that. Call me a homer.
I'm not the biggest fan of the HD grille on the half ton. Sorry guys.
HD hood on the 1/2 ton to me looks retarded. doesnt flow at all with the lines. now if the truck was 6' up in the air its not so bad, lowerd looks like **** imho
well id be rolling some sort of 20's prolly some type of ss wheel, with a 35 series tire so itd be prolly the same deal as my current setup as far as tire height goes.
and yeah ive seen a couple 99-02 hd fronts i like but i still like the 03+ front end. im going to check out the truck tomorrow so hopefully its decent enough to spark some action on my part... if not well ill roll the WT for the summer unless something comes along.
my rears are 305/40/20 and the calculation comes to 29.5 if you do an actual tape measure it comes in around 28.6. i run 488s, dont think 456s would be enough
a 5/7 obs isnt same as 5/7 on nbs and a 5/7 on the nnbs isnt same
i know my truck with a 3/4 and stock height tires. the frame is closer to the ground then i would like. its to point a jack doesnt fit under my truck up front. for me to jack my truck i need to place jack back under the door handle. your area might allow for a much lowerd truck but here in pgh 3/4 is about as low as i would go for practicality
