PROBABLY AN OLD QUESTION BUT I STILL DONT KNOW THE ANSWER:toetap:HEHE EVEN THOUGH I BLEW MINE...
Thanx for askon cuz I was wondering the same thing.
idk mine went with 341rw, others i know have went arond 320rw so probably like 30 hp over stock.
Stock ones last 400K miles and blow at 40K miles. It doesn't relate.
i think it all depends on driving style i would assume. mine went at 65k.
So 330-350rwhp??that Sux,no Wonder!!
Truck Like Mine Dynoed At 356rwhp,i Got Tune,headers,2lbs More-boost,catless 3in Exhaust,p/p Tb,and Z06 Cam Over That!!
Im Guessing Im Around 380rwhp?I definately got to take it easy:(
i had 150 shot on my truck and destroyed it in 2 weekends
Planetaries are not common in the country of Texas.....that's why I say 65's are way overrated over 60's. Sunshells were a problem on 97-01 models. 05-07's blow the sprag. ALL of them like to kill 3-4 clutches and other smaller things.
yea i did a number on my sprag  ask greg
Didn't have to G, I know everything. Also heard your reverse input drum was stuck to the input housing... :thumb:
interesting, im going off of what a guy who has been rebuilding them for years. i know from my experience in mine going was 1-2 and 2-3 is what went bad. thanks for the input!
I have always heard the stock units are good to 350 ft/lb tq. TH400 is dependable to 400 ft/lb tq. Beyond that you better have them built up for more power.
how much rwhp will they hold if you put a hd-2 shift kit and vettes servos?
Havnt taken mine apart yet but Im guessin i had about 350 to 375whp with the tune I had. Tranny had 40k on it out of 00 camaro and my 2nd gear seems to be somewhat out now after one trip to the track. Im gonna rebuild with better internals and see where that gets me.
The best answer of all is . .. . . .Not enough.
Depends too on how much weight its pushin and wether its 4wd. But still it isn't remotely close to enough.
Well in my case....2 were destroyed because of wheel hop and abuse.the other 2 had too much line pressure and broke the case. The 60 in my truck now has had the line pressures dropped alot over stock, installed vette servos and most important the force motor current values tuned properly by the expert (RussK) from HPTuners fame and I am at 100+k miles ans has no wear at all,no metal in the pan when fluids changed.Everybody that knows me also knows i beat the hell out of my truck. The latest beating was a trip to houston and pulling a 87 mustang at 80 mph average back to DFW.I have learned alot about transmissions over the years and mine has taken everything Ive thrown at it and continues to hold up.BTW i went to the Ford Basturds dyno day in Saginaw saturday and made 2 pulls and i pick up 10HP w/my new intake setup! WoooHOOO!
IDK, my stocker went at 80k miles, my replacement went twice, 10k miles each after that.. no explainations possible aboot why they went, no one really knows why mine went.
so I am stepping up to a 65, with a billet output shaft. I wish I could afford the billet input too.. but i cant have it all.
Its a toss up. If your motor is stock--sometimes they last 200k miles, sometimes they last 20k miles. But if you start throwing decent power at it (330+rwhp), they tend to loose the 3-4 clutch pack quickly and the bands wear. I would not be scared with a 65e, HD-2, and servos. If that tranny can;t hold the power--its obvious you need to step up and have a 65 built to LVL 5 specs. If you blow that--time for an 80e!
You know the bad part of all that Tyler is,All the money spent on trannys finding all this out! LMAO
