Welcome. Need some pictures of the ride. Get a tune and go from there with the bolt-ons.
Front mount turbo from Trick Performance, site sponsor. Nelson Performance can install it for you if you can't do it.
Welcome! From Austin as well. I need more HP too! 1st question you ask yourself is how much do you have/want to spend? Then purchase the best mods for the money you can buy.
we all need hp, its addicting. just go some sort of forced induction.... the only way to fly..... just my .02
+1 Figure out what you want your long term goals to be for the truck and build from there. Keep in mind that going any type of forced induction will mean spending money on supporting mods. Cheapest route is to get a tune, bolt ons, shift kit and spray. IMO, I would agree with Red. Front mount Trick turbo and crank it up but it'll cost close to $10k including all the supporting mods.
No matter what you decide, a custom tune from Nelson is a must!
Hi welcome to ls1.. also from the Austin area
+1 on all ^^^
Welcome from Georgetown.
Turbo baby. Im from austin as well. welcome
welcome!
Speed cost money....how fast you wanna go?
I'll try to have pics up this weekend. I'll be installing a new sound system this weekend, so I'll try to put pics up after all of that.
What are some recommended bolt ons that aren't too expensive. I'm looking for a noticeable amount of HP gain. I don't currently have any extra money, but I should soon. For now I'm tryin' not to spend over $600. I'd like to start simple and work my way up. BTW, would anybody recommend a supercharger, and if so what brand/model/type?
One more quick question. What are some good mufflers that can make my truck loud?
Welcome to the site!
welcome...SC sure...I'd go with Radix..its a complete kit and easy to install..for under 600 bucks your best bet woould be a custome tune i highly recommend Black bear performance..he is a EFI Live instr. and IMO there is no one more knowledgable in this field and a great guy to deal with....as for exhaust i run corsa sport and love it but magna flow makes a nice set up as well...alsofor 600 you can pick up a set of pacesetters coated for under 500 ...
Maybe start with a limited slip differential like a Tru-Trac or Auburn so that when you do start making power you're not just spinning one wheel. Next I'd go with a 2800-3000 rpm stall converter so you can get the revs going to launch nice. Circle D is supposed to have a really nice recalibrated trailblazer converter that will work in your truck for some low prices. I hear rave reviews of their work from current customers on here.
ok man, youre on a budget, believe me, i know how you feel, if you want the biggest seat of your pants difference, get some 4.10:1 gears, later on you can get the true trac, or find a cheap G80 its the "locker" out of stock trucks for posi tract. you wont be making enough power to need a true trac right now, so get the gears, maybe some long tube headers and off road Y pipe, you can pick up painted ones for bout 420$ painted ones will look like **** after about 30 mins of run time, but you'll still get the performance so here ya go summit brand 4.10 gears 125$-150$, nelson tune 375$ headers 420$, gears and a tune is what i recommend first though bud thatll keep you around the 600$ range and you'll be happy with the results for a while until you come into some more money.:thumb:
Another question. I hear synthetic oil is good to use. Is this true? If so what brand is best???
i use castrol gtx, most guys on here use mobil 1 thats really all i can recommend from expieriance
I'm a believer in good old dinosaur oil myself, Castrol GTX
Welcome Cedar Park here.... Nelson tune for sure thats about 20-30 hp right there = $375, servos for the trans = $80, gears $150 plus install....... Ditch the stock muffler for something free flowing.....
i run mobil 1 synth. and still change it every 3K miles.
Hey thanks guys. You've all been a lot of help, I appreciate it. I'll post up any new questions or problems I have.
Amsoil is the best IMO.
