very clean, miles arent to bad and the only problem i see with it was the drivers side is missing the SS badge, i would definately say its worth the 12k
Wow that thing is clean, go for it!
sounds too good for 12g's,but its got to have a salvage title??maybe?
it looks like it been wrecked drivers side, the gaps between doors and cab/bed looks off to me.try to find out if it has clean title.maybe do a carfax
I didnt think ss came with cloth, thought they came with leather only
yea its definitely clean. there was on here in baton rouge and that had 5 or 10k less miles and they wanted 17 for it. Thats is definitely a clean steal.
Why does the rear have drum brakes? I thought they had disc in the rear.
they changed to drums in '04 again thankfully, and I noticed along with the bad gaps there's a wrinkle in the bumper cover drivers side and with the missing badge that makes me think its been side swiped or something, but as long as it was fixed right not a bad deal at all
resale on anything 4x4 or v8 sucks right now. I got 11k for my 2006 trailblazer 4x4 with 33000 miles. He probably got lowballed at the dealer and is trying to get the best he can.
I believe the truck has been wrecked before. Also I was under the impression the the SSs came standard with Leather.
05's+ have drums. I've never heard of an SSS with cloth but almost anything is possible. $12K doesn't sound like a smokin' deal with truck prices right now but it's not bad IF it's not a rebuild.
Thanks for all the responses . There is a carfax provided and no accidents show up but carfax doesn't catch everything . You could wreck it yourself into a pole backing out of your driveway , pull it into your garage and fix it and they'd never know about it . I called the dealer that serviced it in San Angelo ,TX that is mentioned in the carfax and he said that it could be an LS SS rather than an LT and this package could have the velour interior . The report also shows 2 front end alignments and the service mgr told me that some of these trucks tend to wear tires on the inside because of the 20's . Is this true ? My 94 has never had a front end alignment and now has 200K on the odometer . They also say its RWD but maybe they don't know it's AWD ? As far as the spacing in between the bed and the cab it looks OK to me . What are you seeing Chevrolade ? Appreciate the input gentlemen !:dancenana:
Looks like there's a BB gun hole or something right above the gas tank door. +1 on the body lines...maybe it's the photos but something seems up...
That stupid about the LS SS. That was a salesman? Figures. It's neither an LT or an LS......it's an SS. I guarantee (almost) the model is a 1SS, 2SS, etc.....
The '94 style is probably the worst GM truck front end for part longevity, alignment issues, and sloppy steering. Sorry but....the AWD's hardly ever have alignment issues (including Denali and Escalade). Two aligments? Well, could be better than average maintenance. Almost impossible for warranty to pay for one, muck less two, unless there were parts replaced that required it. Hope that's not it. BTW, the only thing that shows up on CarFax in most cases is if it's had pillar damage. If there is pillar damage, it's most likely a total that would show up in FREE state or dealer checks anyway.
Umm...cannot remember what year this is but they made 2WD SSS later on....
Guess I need to check the link, huh?
I just ran the VIN in GM VIS, it's 2WD. 3:73s with G80. I didn't know they came without leather either, but I see nothing that says leather interior in the vehicle build, it's the 1SS interior so that doesn't include leather. Nothing major was replaced under warranty, wheel alignment measure was done at 6000 miles which is pretty well the mileage for it's first tire rotation, the customer may have noticed very slight wear on the tires and the dealer may have checked the alignment to keep the customer happy. The front tires will wear a little on the inside if they're not rotated every 6,000 miles or so. Once these trucks get some miles on them it's good to get an alignment. The caster/camber tend to go towards the negative side of the specs and sometimes out of spec a little. Almost every truck I get in for an alignment with say 50-60K miles+ on them I have to adjust the caster/camber up sometimes as much as a degree. Negative camber will wear the tires on the inside edges.
I noticed the same thing with the spacings in the doors on the drivers side especially, could be the pics though. That truck is definietly worth taking a look at, seems to be a great price!
Looks real to me except for the cloth. The VIN checks as far as engine number and, cab style, year model, etc. I'll run it through GM's 'puter tomorrow if someone bumps as a reminder. That's kind of a lot of miles for an '05 in some places, low for here. The body gaps are bad in the pics. Someone said this was a private sale? NOT. Private sale by a wholesaler. You can tell by the type (not the actual quality) of pics.
Thanks. No need for a bump now.
Alignment without parts replacement is only covered between 750 and 7500 miles. They must have had another truck previously with tire wear issues and knew how to complain to get it under warranty as the AWD's didn't pull or wear.
I have to add caster to every GMT800 I've ever put on the machine....and almost all of them have negative total toe that needs corrected. Camber can be anywhere....
Thanks for running that through the system for me . The carfax says that a steering shaft was replaced . The guy I spoke to worked in the service dept - he was't a salesman but he said that sometimes those steering knuckles will start to pop and they just replace them . Frankly , I'm getting turned off with this truck . I'm not all that mechanically savvy like you guys are . I'm also seeing that the SS gets 16mpg on the highway , I'm thinking of finding a nice Silverado with the 5.3 maybe and just letting Allen work a little magic on that for me . As far as my 94 goes , maybe I got a good one . I've never noticed what Gasguzzler is saying but maybe if you put it on the machine you'd be sure to find something wrong at 200K ! All I know is that it doesn't wear tires and never has and doesn't pull at all . I wish I could say the same for my Regal GS . I found this really nice 05 Silvy Max in Richardson and it seems like a great price although I'm a bit turned off by the fact that it's been cammed - I'd rather have a stock engine and do mods myself . Can anyone tell me what the rims on this truck are ? THey say they're factory . You guys try not to get too excited about this truck now because I might buy it ! BTW , you have to click the contact the seller link to see all of the info.
Hmmm. I had to go back and do a double take on the body gaps. The SS lower side cladding makes it look off, but it really isn't. It is highly possible the driver's side has been swiped and fixed, but that would be a call you have to make--go look at it yourself.
The navy blue one looks awesome too...almost the same price and half the miles. Same driveline. But it definitely doesn't look as clean as the SS does. The blue one has dumped exhaust--so it has been modded slightly. I say do the blue one!
EDIT: Just read the end of your last post...how do you know it has been cammed??? And those are GM factory 20" VHO wheels. They came stock on that truck. And a 2005 SSS can be RWD...
every truck came with drums in 05 up...the disc brakes in the rears were having problems...the e-brake wasnt working for crap so they switched them to drum to solve that problem and therefore went from i think it was a 12'' disc to a 12.8 disc in front which made them have to go with a 17'' rim on a base model truck instead of the 16'' rims....
The SS came with cloth in 06 and 07. I don't believe that is a real SS. The door alignment is fine, there is just a painted plastic border around the truck.
http://images5.ecarlist.com/photos/1...491/640/39.jpg See that mess is all the way around.
The book doesn't even say SS, so I am calling it a clone. And the head rest should have SS in them even if its cloth.
you know what i just look at the pics again...if it isnt an SS this guy did a good job...has the SS gauges, the SS grille, the SS badge on the dash, all the molding is right, the bumper is right, the only thing its missing is the SS on the door....they did come with cloth and from what i read they didnt have the SS on the headrest with cloth interior, he has the right tims also...if its not a reall SS he put a lot of time into it making it one...
Oh and my book dont say SS on it also
it doesnt have the BOSE.
My shop worked on a red SSS a year or so ago. Cloth interior, no headrest stitching, but not sure what year.
even has the SS exhaust tip
All half tons 05+ have rear drums.....I thought.
The reason I was given was because of pedal feel although the 05's had more problems than the 04's. The real reason IMO was cost savings. The utilities had the same dsic system and did not have e-brake problems after 02 so I'm not sure....
It's probably the 2nd time for me too...
