Well I still have the oil pressure problem. It idles at a little over 20psi and when im moving its at 40psi and when I floor it its about at 75psi. So is this the pump or another problem need to know before I buy a new engine.Thx Ben

has motor ever been touched? if so O ring might be pinched.
i doubt pump is going bad, the new ones only possibly thing that fails is the spring.
what oil weight are you running?
what is mileage on truck and what oil filter are you using?
checked oil recently and notice anything on the plug?
Mine does the same thing, only at idle its at 40psi. at WOT it will climb pretty high. I thought this was normal. :ugh2:
20 isnt normal
The motor is stock never been touched
10W30 Mobil 1 Synthetic
Mobil 1 filter
And theres been a build up of this carmel looking stuff under the oil cap.
And it has 97000miles
I also have the caramel looking stuff. I had to remove the baffles on the valve covers and there was a lot of this stuff. Maybe this is the crisco problem I have been having?

Is this what the caramel stuff you have looks like?
I just recently change the oil just a little metal i mean a tiny tad. And it just started to happen, along with my coolant disappearing after 4-5 days but that started to happen this winter when I started to use the heat.
Yes
then we both need to figure out this one. I took off the valve covers and tapped 5/8 barbs to help it breath. I saw this under the baffles. I also have a lot of condensation in my catch can. I have to let it out like every other day. Just looks like water. But I am not burning coolant or oil.
Think its a 4.8 thing?
I dunno. But I have a 370 if it is lol. Im wondering if maybe its because of vacuum. I didnt notice any problems until after I put the cam in. Maybe an oil pump problem. When we did the cam swap, we didnt touch the oil pump or timing chain. I just cant figure it out.
GenIII if you have that in your oil that is possibly causing the oil pressure issue. im not a fan of additives but try some seafoam thru the motor. you need to clean that motor. i think you can run seafoam thru oil. i would run it then instantly change the oil again after all the gunk is out. keep repeating this using cheap oil so you dont go broke.
but get yourself a leakdown tester if you can and see if motor is all within spec. that much sludge worries me.
i also dont like mobil 1 oil at all
Hello Jeff,
This might be a dumb ? --- but do you have your PCV hooked up yet? Looks like the [ Positive Crankcase Ventilation ] valve is not working. Normal water vapor and oil makes that goo. The PCV valve vacuum cleans the inside of your engine.
I remember 1953 235" Chevy 6 banger that had a Road Draft Tube. It came out of the block above the oil pan-- up about 10" then turned down below the oil pan flange to catch the wind to suck out the fumes.
just my :twocents:
well ,i have a 6.0 and it has the oil pressure issue and condensation ,my motor is a 07 with less than 10 k on it.it idles warm at 30-35 psi ,as soon as i hit the pedal though it immediately raises and stays theyre until im at idle again.i am beginning too think its a problem with these motors tho.ive seen it on alot of them.jeff , idont think the oil pressure issue and the condensation issue are the same for you ,if anything i would def,say 2 diff things.same for me.i empty my catch can ,minimum 1 a week and theyres plenty of water in it and some oil .i used -10 lines to my catch can ,and all that did was stop the smoke at red lights when i stop.and took away alittle stink.anyway you guys arent alone id like to stop the condensation issue also.ive been fortunate not too have the caramel **** you guys have ,but the condensation alone is sickning.good luck ,ill sure be happy too figure it out also.
I dont have a pcv anymore. It was dumping oil in my intake at a high enough rate to make the oil go low. I have 5/8 barbs to 5/8 hose that goes to a catch can. Can has a filter on top. I have also tried the seafoam approach. I did two oil changes with it. Oil came out dirty as hell both times. But I still get a little crisco. But no were near as much. I think removing the baffles helped a lot too.
All i need it to do is last till March and thats what im going to do. It still runs great the weird thing is it hasnt burned oil like that since 3weeks ago when I went to SC. But the coolant is the same way will be ok for about 2weeks then it needs some more.
20 at idle IS normal it's just not typical.
If it took a dramatic change in a short period of time there is probably something wrong. If it was gradual, it's unlikely there is a bid issue. 6.0's had common pick-up o-ring problems that caused less than 5 at idle (which is NOT normal). Maybe there is a slight issue there...?
You have missed some grammar classes. By definition of the word "normal" 20 is normal. It is however not typical. Simple really.
listen GG whatever your issue is with FLT or whoever dont bring that **** my way. i not arguing with your ass. fact is i know what GM spec's say but isnt right!!!! argue as much as you want in the mirror. fact is a motor idling at 20psi is wounded or something is restricting the flow to the sensor. either way its not a good thing.
A 20 psi idle has hurt nothing. Ever.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
