I keep hearing a gurgling noise coming from somewhere behind the radio. On a previous thread Gas Guzzler told someone it was a heater core. How can I make sure this is the problem and if it is the problem is it something easy to replace. And what is it hurting? Thanks for the help guys.
The Heater core is going to control the inside of the cab heat. Basically the only way that I know of checking out a heater core is by getting in there and pulling it out. It shouldn't be that hard to replace.
Its the heater core, you might be low on coolant. My heater core went bad, It took me about 10 mins to swap out. OBS :)
I was low on coolant. stoped the gurgling right after.

If it was low enough to gurgle, it was pretty low. You need to find where the coolant went and fix the problem before something worse happens.
In rare instances on the early GMT800 trucks, there is an updated set of plastic heater hose quick connects that can solve other weird heater core/coolant noises.
Check the water pump gaskets and weep hole for coolant leaks cold.
Yes, Ricky's right. The GMT400 heater core is cake, the GMT800's require dash removal. They suck unless you make a living at them...:tvhaha:
well i added about 1/2 a gallon maybe less of coolant and it seems to have solved the problem. Thanks guys much appreciated. I feel dumb cause it didn't really look low but it was.

Well thanks for the info man. Even if you were willing to drive halfway it'd still be way too far. LOL as soon as I get out of school to make some money gotta pour more in the truck, and not in a good way.
It's only 22 hours drive.
