Lingenfelter heads
I asked a couple months back about a cam and I bought the lingenfelter gt2-3 cam. I was wondering how well the heads would work cause the site says they are set up for the cam but im thinking of going ahead and having the bigger valves (2.02 intake and 1.57 exhaust valves) put on it and have the chambers hand rolled. What do you guys recommend? What gains would i recieve if I went ahead and used these heads. I just gathering up parts so i can put it all on at the same time.

hmm isnt the gt2 cam something like a 207/220 cam? whats the lift on it, whatcha stuffing this cam in?
-
Yeah its a 207/220 .571/.578 cl of 118.5. its going in my 5.3 rcsb. I've got the intake programmer and Long tubes and cat back, intake, I'm going to have a different y- pipe welded up and put on with high flow cats and a yank truck thruster 3000 stall convertor. I'm going to get rid of the programmer when the cam goes in and get a nelson tune. Bout tax time i'm going to try to get a magnacharger for it.
-
I would think you could get better heads for less dough.
-
give me a few weeks. I just installed a 224 228 and the edelbrock lingenfelter heads on my5.3. I'll try to get some track times. I think my stall my be a little small but we'll see. I say do it anyways I'm running a procharger. I would like to see how a magnacharger with a similar setup would do. We could be test dummies for everyone else. lol

I've looked at some patriot heads, but they have a larger cc and they would lower the compression on the motor which i'd kind of like to keep the compression where its at. Any other recommendations?
-
Why not just P&P the 5.3 heads?????
-
I would like to open the head up more than that. thats why i was thinking bout the heads with the bigger valves and 3 angle valve job etc. but I'm not sure how everything is going work out on it quite yet
-
Valves that big in a 5.3 will cause valve shroud.
-
Thanks that shot my idea in the foot. Is that with the factory cc. Would I be able to go the patroit ls series heads the link is below and be fine?

for the money the PP heads are just okay. You can send your stock heads to WCCH and have them ported and they'll be equal to or better than the PP heads. There is a reason they're so inexpensive. I've talked to builders that claim they've actually lost HP on the dyno after installing a set of PP heads from a stock engine.

Patriots are sub standard chinese crap if you ask me.

got your email....sorry for delayed response having some family problems...yes you have a very similar build to mine...i was never going to put better flowing heads on mine it was built in mind of having a magnacharger on top...with that combo I would think easy 400 at the wheel if not more with a pulley change...
If you still have stock tranny with just a shift kit start saving for a built tranny...it will happen sooner or later and better to be prepaired..

Port and polishing does hurt a stock motor cause I had the same thing done to my car. So any suggestions on aftermarket heads cause i would like to keep the stock heads original incase i ever needed them as back up.
-
only a bad P&P job will hurt a stock engine.

I'm still looking at heads and I came across these being recommended on this site.
PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads
Any ideas and would i recieve valve shroud from it?
