Keeps Throwing Codes

WELL I RECENTLY HAVE A MAIL TUNE FROM NP.THIS IS ON MY BLOWN 08'4.8 GUYS,AFTER 3-4 RUNS,ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.IT BACKFIRES SOME TIMES.I MEAN IT RUNS GOOD,I GET ON IT EVERYDAY,NO KNOCKING OR PINGING.BUT HERE ARE THE CODES-

Po171-fuel Trim Bank Condition

Explanation-the Pcm Uses The Oxygen Sensor To Calculate The A/f Ratio Of The Engine.the Computer Has Recognized A Rich Or Lean Condition On One Engine Bank Only.

Po174-fuel Trim Bank 2 Condition

Explanation-the Ecm Has Detected A Rich Or Lean A/f Ratio Condition on bank two.


So should i take it easy for now ,till i get a live tune.what am i risking?

It's a MAF tune with boost. Those are lean codes for both banks. May need a MAF solution or a SD tune. Anyone else?

Do you have a wideband? What is your A/F ratio while in boost? Should be 11.5 or lower. Could be O2's going bad...

Well Im Looking Into Getting The Wideband This Week From Np.

I Have My Cat Converters Removed,so Allen Deleted All The O2 Sensors .unless They Still Read??

Did he delete all of the o2's or just the rear's? I would definitely take it easy until you got a wideband hooked up. At ;east then you will be able to see what it's doing.

im really not sure,ill have to ask him.

I've got a lot of confidence in NP mail order tunes since that's what I had for a year with my set up. The wideband is just to double check and make sure that everything is in check. Since those codes are for being too lean, I would be very careful about getting on it. Just because it hasn't blown yet doesn't mean it won't. What size injectors do you have? Fuel pump? Do you have a narrow band or anything to monitor AFR?

SAME HERE THATS WHY I WENT WITH HIM.
I HAVE NOTHING TO MONITOR MY A/F RATIO:(
THE INJECTORS,WHATEVER COMES WITH THE 112 RADIX MAGNUSON42-44?
AS FOR FUEL,STOCK FUEL PUMP WITH MAGNAVOLT FROM CHARGER KIT.
IM ONLY AT 5-6PSI,IM ALSO RUNNING TR6NGK

It may be something minor and no big deal but better to be safe than sorry. I'll let some of the other guys chime in on what their thoughts are. Good luck!

ok man bad mistake that is the most important guage period be easy on it till you have the right eequipment or you could blow it up

Those codes aren't as bad as it sounds. Those codes are caused by a vac leak or a bad o2 sensor. Or, it could possibly be a tune, but if it just started happening... you didn't mention how long it's been doing this.

Those codes will not set during a wot run, more than likely, at wot it's rich, but like the other guys said, you never know until you check it with a wb.
I command a safe a/f ratio in the calibration, however, commanded and actual a/f ratio are two different things.

Those codes are set during idle and normal driving. For some reason during normal driving the pcm can't add enough fuel to keep the ltrims in line. SO, once they hit their max limit, the pcm sets this code.
If extra air is entering the engine that the maf is not detecting, then the pcm can never add enough fuel to compensate. The pcm will over compensate and continue to add fuel to cure the false lean condition, but of course it never will as long as there is a leak somewhere, pretty much the same thing with a false reading from the o2 to the pcm, in closed loop.

A bad o2 sensor is at fault, most of the time, when a customer complains about his truck running fine during startup, then after about 2mins (when closed loop happens) the truck runs bad.

Send me an email or call us when you get the wb on and let me know what it is during wot, actually during any rpm and boost level.

hey allen thanks for the info,yea this has been going on since i installed the blower.about 3months.true,the engine light wont come out at wot,it only comes out during normal driving,after wot runs. .i hope it aint a vacuum leak:(how the heck would i find that?Well yea ill let u know tomorrow,where my a/f ratio is at.ill double check all vac lines as well.
