ok. i have a 2000 rcsb witha 5.3 automatic. 3.42 gears, G80(still works good) and nelson tune and a set of 27" tall et streets. my best run with allof this is a 14.94@90.53 , but only one time i got a 2.28 60' time. all the rest of the 60' times were in the 2.31-2.38 time range. why is that? i am heating my slicks up really good but still spinning them off the line.. i launch at 1200. it seemed to be the best.
Any ideas? or is these times normal?

I have a 04 rcsb 5.3 an I just took it to the track for my first time last week an I bairlly stalled my truck up to 1200RPMs tops, an the best I could run was 14.89@93MPH. I dont know why I didnt do it, but I should of stalled it up way higher cause my rear tires never spun once, I guess I was just nervous on the line a didnt pay attention. I will fix that next time. :burnout: . But when I am just playing around on the crappy streets I can stall/launch at at least 1500RPMs or higher an still hook-up pritty good. So if you can only lunch at 1200 without spinning then you must have a problem with your tire pressure or the tires are not real slicks. BTW, I noticed you have a Nelson tune but do you have any other mods other than the G80 rearend, cause that is still a good time?
Times seem good to me. To really affect your 60' times you need to change to a higher stall converter,I like the yank 2600, but there are several good choices.
90 mph and a tall 14 is good for a truck that is basiclly stock.The 27" tires with 3.42/1 rear give the same overall gearing as 3.73/1 with 30" tires.
it might have been just a slick track that night.
If they dont prep them good it wont matter what you do.
what thunder said is very true. i have been to tracks and could only run a 15.3. i know i run faster at other tracks. a lot of it has to do with track prep. some places don't feel the need to prep for test and tune...
yeah i wasnt too happy about my times. i ran faster without the slicks. i was running about 17lbs in them. and definatly smoking the tires. oh well, ill keep spending money!!!!

If your slicks are new they might just not be broken in yet. I had to run mine about 10 or more runs before they really started to grip. I lightly heat them now and the never spin off the line.
