So far the the removal took about 3 hours, and it is a pita bigtime with nobody helping!!
Also had to get the converter out ASAP as one of our members purchased it.
I will be taking pictures of the HD-2 install as well as the new Billet Circle D converter. Chris over at Circle D gave me a price I could not pass up!!
I plan to have it back on the road tomorrrow night, but I had to cut my pos pacesetter y-pipe off so I will have to tig it bag together before I have exhaust.. So open headers it is!! I hate tig welding so I am sure I will put it off for a couple of days.
Is your y-pipe welded or is the pacesetter y-pipe just a pos in general:ugh2:
Its not bad until you try to take it off!!
Those U bolts they supply with the kit are bad news. Band clamps are much better...you can actually get everything apart after.
I love band clamps.
cool deal!
what's the stall rating of the billet converter?
yeah the ory is junk, that's why i had a custom one fabbed up with 3 bolt flanges.
Everyone else may want to see the new converter. But I want to see the old one. Much more exciting for me!!!!!!!!:hyper2:
Since this install took longer than epected I just finished this morning. All I can say is I need new tires big time!!
The HD-2 Shift kit has the WORST directions of any part I have ever installed. After figuring out all the parts it came down to the boost vavle wich I could not get to work so I had to end up using the orignal housing and boost valve with the updated rod.
3600. I am in love with this converter! Chris and the Circle D team really put pride into what they do and it shows in the performance of the product! When I picked up the new converter Chris took me into the shop and showed me exactly how my unit was built as well as the differences in parts. The Converter I bought is built iwth all Circle D compents so it was a bit more expensive than some other companies. Chris has parts from all the major Converter builders and will show you the exact differences that make his converters stronger. He showed me a PI front cover that he will build with for a bit cheaper, but in all honesty it looks very weak compared to the circle d part. I told Chris about the board so he may join to give advice from time to time. It was just nice to meet somebody with so much knowledge that actually will take the time to chat with somebody that does not have an all out race car. Good people over there for sure!
Sweet deal. That's a pretty big job to do at home for a hobbyist. You should be proud. Good job.
Thanks man! it actually is not that bad. Just a pain in th azz removing and installing the transmission with no help and no lift! I have a bad exhaust leak now b/c my y-pipe issue. so i guess i will have to drive to a bad part of houston to get it welded up with no questions asked. I was going to tig it, but it looks like just to much welding needs to be done and it would take forever b/c I have a foot pedel tig..
Circle D has my vote for converters for sure!!!!!! i cant tell u how much i love my mine!!!! Let me know how much time you drop over the 3000!!
