Disconnect the battery. Remove the dipstick (not the tube) Pull both driveshafts (make sure wheels are chocked well). Drain the transfer case (to prevent a big mess). Unhook all the wiring and vent lines. Remove transfer case to trans adapter nuts. Remove transfer case with assistance. Support the trans and remove the crossmember and exhaust system. Disconnect the cooler lines and the filler tube. Pull the starter off to gain access to and remove the flexplate to converter bolts. Unbolt the trans from the engine. Pull it back then down. I'm sure I left something out but that's the gist of it.
Oh yeah....since it's a 6.0 from the factory, you may not need to drop both exhaust pipes. Good luck fighting the goofy trans to exhaust bracket that only comes on 6.0's.
Oh...the bolts from the transfer case you need to remove are on the back side of the adpater--not the ones in front.
They're nuts but Tyler is correct. Leave the transfer case adapter bolted to the trans.
Yeah, if I remember correctly, the bolts are in back and the nuts are on the front... :duh:
are you drunk simon...... i was only in texas for one night ya damn cry baby
G he posted this on Sunday the 19th...
Cry babaies??? I think it was you that was acting like a 12 year old girl and texted me like 87 times asking how to do that chit... Its cool--I just wish I could have seen video of you laying across the top of the intake trying to unbolt the top bellhousing bolt...
From the top?
I didn't know anyone made it sound hard...
I know that you know this Nate, but on a VHO, 4WD, or AWD truck, you cannot get to the top bellhousing bolt by disconnecting the driveshaft and dropping the crossmember... and with Gary's bum hand and the fact that he is short and slightly pudgy, it would be hilarious watching my sprawled out all over the top of the motor to get to it!
I take it out from the bottom. I've never tried it from the top. You do paint a funny picture.
i did have to call tyler for help but once he told me i knocked it out and then told him gimme something harder next time, but it just went really smooth with me and chic workin on it. thanks to tyler and virgil for thier phone support :thumb:
