New kid from Canada
Hey whats up guys? My names Tyler, Im from Northern Alberta, Canada. I'm new to the truck game but I hope to learn as much as I possibly can. I'm finally picking up my first vehicle on Tuesday, its a "new" 1994 single cab long box, its got the 350 and 4x4. My plans are to start modding it ASAP! Haha as far as I know its only got headers and an exhaust system, I plan on adding much, much more.
So far the forum looks sick, I'll see everyone around! :thumb:

Welcome to LS1truck! You planning on modding the 350 that is in it now? I would advise for you to not mod that motor--and start saving up for an LS swap...
-
Yea, haha I was did some research last night and I read that its gunna be expensive and painful to mod the 94. So I guess that plan is out the window haha.
Roughly though, how much will an LS swap cost me? Am I looking at tens of thousands? lol
-
under 10 easy (for a semi stock motor), if ya cand get everything cheap enough under 5000 plus your time
-
Ls swap isnt so bad if you get a complete motor and transmission. And you do the swap yourself.
-
Alright, thats not too bad at all.
Thanks guys, Ill have pictures up tomorrow!
-
Yeah, the swap can be less than $5k if you do it on a budget. You could get a any LS motor to bolt up to your existing tranny. Mainly, you would need a motor, wiring harness, and motor mounts. Besides that, it would be a straight forward swap...
-
Hmm. Alright.
What options do I have besides the swap? Like, if I was to simply just mod my existing engine what could I do to get the most possible power from it?
I was recently browsing around some performance websites and basically the closest I could find to this truck is a 96', is the engine in the 96' the same as the 94'?
Sorry for the weak questions guys, just trying to understand things haha.
Thanks in advance!

no your kinda S.O.L. with the TBI. Most of the performance parts are for a 96 or newer because 96 is when GM finally smartened up and went with multi-port injection (this is where they started calling them vortec's to). But there is options for your 94 too, you can build a traditional small block for it (fairly cheap) and there is people burning chip's for the PCM out there and there is a lot of info on another chev site bout TBI, I'm not sure if I can post it up or not I'll pm it to you.
-
The block is the same, but the injection system and PCM is different. Honestly, I would not waste any money on trying to mod the TBI. Take the money you would spend on it and save it for a LS motor.

ahh **** not another tyler....welcome i guess
