Hey I installed my K&N CAI on my 06 6.0L SSS
Removing the stock air box to install the CAI it exposes alot of area open to the road.
Is anyone modifying those areas to keep dead birds and water from the K&N filter?

do you suck up alot of dead birds in NB?
yep
 cats like my truck for some reason. Its killed a few allready.
so do you have the same concern. I mean theres alot of road visable through the air cleaner mounting tray. Heck I dont see how the can call this a CAI?
k&n sells some sort of a cover that covers your filter .keeps it from sucking dogs, cats and birds.lol
outerwears makes a cover and it repels water as well as a lot of other ugliness.
I had the so called K&N "Cold Air" Intake on mine, but I never like the fact it was open to the engine compartment. I sold it and bought the K&N drop in filter for the stock air box. I have read some threads were guys are modding thier stock air boxes for increased air flow and making a tube, or using a CAI tube from the air box to the tb.
there's a guy on pt that sells an upper intake lid with all the necessary clamps and intake tube. Looks kind of like the ones uhp used to make. use just reuse your lower stock box.
