ok i want to go turbo...but im poor
i love the sts set up...again im poor
what if i just get the oiling system from them...or someone that has one...and get the rest of the piping and turbo along with the nessicary upgrades to the fuel system and injectors myself and then do a custom fab???
is that illegal cuz they have a patent and what not???
is it even possible to get just an oiling system from them???

Remember STS is a remote mount system. It would be cheaper and easier to fab a front mount system...I'm thinking. For a front mount, you wouldn't need the oil pump...just feed and return lines.

i dont know why but im feelin the remote mount more than a front mount....i guess i want people to look in the bay and be like oh its just a weird intake set up then get their f****n doors blew off
a twin sts kit i dont think would be a good idea...you can do a single front mount for under $3k easily

You should be able to get something to work for alot cheaper. Even if they have a patent it does not matter legally unless you try to copy their design and SELL kits. Other option is to go down to an exhaust shop and have them bend your pipe, or just buy a bunch of bends from jegs and fab it that way. the other parts you can buy off ebay as you get the money. Fab will take a while if you dont work on it full time, so you should be able to pick up peices as you work on fab. I was kicking around buying an STS setup over a year ago and after talking to them on the phone I decided I would rather pick my eyes out with a pencil than deal with them again. So if I ever did a rear mount I would build it myself. Having said all of this if I ever go F/I it will be a single 80 mm front mount!
This is what I started a few years ago. I ended up not finishing it so I'm selling all the stuff. I know I coulda got it finished I'm just not in the position to right now. I spent about 1400-1600 and still had a lil ways to go. Bought a stock mid-pipe and had a flange welded on to that. I don't remember what pics are in this thread cause I can't see them from the work comp

Well, I still needed a tune, bigger injectors, and the proper intake piping (2.25-2.5" instead of 3") so however much that woulda been plus new gears. Probably a good $1k I still have the mid-pipe assembly if anyone's interested. make me an offer +s/h
the turbo and the oil pump would be the expensive part of that kit...i have seen some people do a self contained oiling system for the turbo...have a resivour and an oil cooler and just let it loop itself...use the exhaust that already there and weld a flange on it to make the turbo sit right then you can just fab the cold side back to the motor....how much boost do you want and hp? injectors will run you about $300-$350...i think it can be done for under 2k
I threaded the adapter next to the oil filter to run the oil from the stock pump. then i was going to either tap the pan for return or go through the oil fill cap. Let me know if you want any pics of what I've done.
what would be a good place fot the resivour and cooler to go??? i think that would be pretty bad ass to have its own little system. i dont have the stock Y-pipe anymore....it got cut in half when i had the exhaust installed but i could always just get a set of LT's and an ory from pacesetter and then attach it to a section of pipe on there. well for now i want around 10psi and close to the 550 area. but i ultimately want to do a swap to a 502 lsx and use it only for a drag truck so id be wanting in the 4 digit range. and i figure that i could keep the turbo(s) on it to help make that kind of power. but like i say right now nothing outrageously big....just around 550 if im lucky.Quote:

Yes, I have read the thread as it developed yet was confused about "hoe".
now that weve got that sorted out....speaking about my hoe...my truck... what do you with your expert opinion think i should do and how
I defer to those that have more knowledge on major mods. I fix things back to the way they're supposed to be in most cases. Usually "hoe" is short for TaHOE, hence my confusion...(unless you have a Tahoe and I forgot).

right now im trying to get an idea of what ill need to buy, in terms of piping and what not. im also looking for a small enough oil resovure for a self contained oiling system for the turbo.
Unless you are good with bending pipe, welding, and on site fabrication--I would almost resort back to just saving up some money and buying a setup. Or maybe find a used kit and buy a new turbo, BOV/wastegate, etc.
Tyler, I doubt seriously you could reach halftrack with me on a front mount 80.. I am almost inclined to say you could not pass 1/8 while I trip the 1/4 beams just how my truck sits. Although you have me hands down in the clean truck look department, my truck is purpose built to get the win light. I guess we will never know at this point b/c my truck is down for a standalone and second stage. I have to give it to you though b/c I can only haul around duel ass, while you could fit at least 6 small asses in that truck of your's@@
