Im thinking about gutting my cats on a stock 5.3. Could anyone tell me the pros and cons on doing this. Will it be loud with a super 40 flow. And if i should do it, should i just drop them and punch them out?

i would just get long tubes and an ory. With no cats.
Im getting pacesetter LTs later when money allows. But for now just gut them?
I wouldn't. Its only worth a few hp. Plus, if you go ORY in the future you can actually sell the stock cats, you couldn't sell gutted cats
There is no benefit on your vehicle. It would smell pretty bad though.
Keep the cats, buy the long tubes and y-pipe, then scrap the old cats for $140 or so. That way your old cats payfor almost half of the headers.
Thanks for the info. Still cant decide on what to do though.
I have a question because I was thinking about doing the same thing but they do emissions testing here. So is gutting them bad?
I know this is off topic, but where are you guys selling your stock cats?
Pretty, much any scrap yard will buy them off you, the guys that pay the most though around here are the people who buy them for cores. Thats why i got more for having the whole y-pipe and not jus the cats.
so having a ory pipe with no cats you will lose low tq but gain top end tq?
Everything I know about cats points to them being power robbing pieces of emission junk. How would removal decrease tq?
yeah that i always thought i am gona try it my self an ory
Cats built in the last 15 or so years don't take away that much power at all until you hit the mod wall.
Look at eBay, prices are really high for junk cats 'cause of the nickel and platinum.
Yes, any vehicle without cats smells bad....unless you run race fuel.
