Hi, I have a 03 1500 that is blowing hot air out of the passenger side vents. This only seams to happen when I am stopped. It starts blowing colder again when I start going down the road. I noticed it once or twice in the beginning of the summer but blew it off, now it is happening a lot more frequent. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?
And no, the wife is not in the car.
Its not the driver side vents at all?
maybe try evac and recharge. or blend door
Mine is doing the same damn thing!!!!! Its the separator in the blower box i think....the door is not closing all the way and its letting air in from the heater core.Im looking for a fix as well
it could possibly be your air temp actuator.
My truck does the same thing!! Except it's the drivers side that blows heat and I have to shut my truck off and then crank it back up again to fix it. Only does it every now and again, but it's still a pain.

Yes, it is only the passanger side.
If it is the temp actuator that is causing the problem, how do you check it? Also, what controls the temp blending door, does it use a stepper motor or does it use vacumm to open and close it?
Cowl327 seems to have it right. There is a fabric flap/door in the box that is vacum actuated. Either a vacum line leak in the controls or the door vacum actuator . So when u drive, the forced in air helps to close the door/flap.

mine did the same after my batterey died i unpluged the negative side of the batt and reset the system and it worked fine after that try that
There are exactly ZERO vacuum actuators on a GMT800. 2003+ are usually a failed temp actuator motor but the 2004+ GMT800's have a software update for the HVAC to "help". The friendly dealer can do the update. If you're a DIY'er, hope for the LH actuator to fail. Most DIY'ers could do that side. The RH side....? Maybe not. Once and a while the LH side will get much warmer than the RH side when the system is low. Have the dealer check that too.
mine does it too. they told me its the blend door, they said it is right underneith your ac controls under your dash hidden in a little box.
Both are "behind the radio" yet the LH side actuator is on the bottom of the case and is easily accessed with the bolster panel removed. The RH side actuator is left to right in the same place but on top of the case, yet still under the dash.
Has anyone changed the RH actuator? If it is behind the radio, what all is involved in replacing it?
You're supposed to pull the dash but I squeak it out through the passenger air bag hole with the bag removed.
when i worked at a chevy dealer i used to watch some of the line techs have to reprogram and reset the actuators via a tech 2, that is why when you unplug the battery and reattach it resets itself too. try that and see if that does not fix your problem
