I havent been into any audio stuff for a number of years, what are the top of the line amps, speakers and subs out there?
New stuff these days is A LOT more crap then it used to be.
New amps I would consider are Sundown (Personal Favorite), Kicker, RF, Eclipse, Audison, Zapco, Alpine (PDX series) and maybe a few others
Old school amplifiers are still very good, better then the new crap. Companies like PPI, Xtant, Alpine, RF, US Amps and many others are good.
Personally I love Sundown amplifiers. The owner is a great guy and they make there amplifiers to get down low (as low as .25 ohms on some) and accept up to 16V.
One really popular set of amps right now is the RF 25toLife series amplifiers. They are putting out up to 3x as much as they are rated for.
in this order....jl, crossfire, kicker, alpine, rockford, eclipse, kenwood....IMO
i have an eclipse 4 channel if interested
Oh yeah forgot to add JL, they make some good stuff just too pricey.
sundown is some excellent stuff, well worth it for those amps. incriminator audio makes amps that are very similar, along with a few other companies. Memphis makes some very high quality equipment(m class lines) and i've liked the better maxxsonics equipment too(autotek mean machine, hifonics xxv series, crunch ground pounder). the common brands like kicker, rf, eclipse, alpine are all generaly good stuff. it kinda depends on the amount of money you want to spent and the quality of equipment you want to buy.
Infiniti 611a and 1211a are really nice amps. They are class D also so they wont overheat.
how much money do you want to spend is the ?
i can't believe no one mentioned Mcintosh...very nice equipment
I am partial to Pheonix Gold, but I am biased.
I have had good luck with Planet Audio and Memphis amps.
go jl or go home.......
alpine has nice small amps that would fit nicely in a single cab truck
Lanzar is very inexpensive but makes a quality product.Don't forget MTX!
I like the OLD Rockford stuff...like the BD series of amps.
I have an old ass BD1000.1, which is the last BD series they made and its a 1000watt amp that puts out 1300 watts continuous...many people say Rockfords stuff is garbage but IMO 1300 watts from a 1000 watt rated amp blows just about EVERY other amp out of the water.
I am old school. ADS power plates for mids/highs and Punch 45/75 for subs!!!
with the on the JL's thats whats powering my highs right now, also posible to power my subs, but took them out, those memphis amps i posted in the foresale section is top of the line!!! hell throw me some offers, worse thing i could say is HELL NO!!!! lol
BBSS = you got that right that is one badazz amp, RF used to sponser us in crank it uo contest many years ago
lanzar is junk as to MTX!! = old and new!!! but thats my opinion
i used to have RF amps and i liked them. for the money they had the lowest THD at any power level compared to others.
oh yeah cant leave out JBL!!!
Rockford fosgate blew my 15" kicker cvx
sold my old school Rockfords and bought JLs, no regrets. Just more tuning and functions now days. Plus safety is better now. Still love my old school Punch 45 that is not being used though.
i used to compete in sound comps. and SPL comps. and i can say from experience JL audio W6 or better subs and all there amps are killer well worth the price if you want quality. Kicker subs in the L7 or L5 series all the way up to the solo-x is the hardest hitting sub on the market i had two L7 12's in my S-10 extreme and i hit 151.3 decible in my cab at a competition hope this helps and for sound clearity the infinity interior speakers are my choice
This conversation isn't about subs. It's about amps.
ive always rocked JL audio amp and woofers and components and ive always been happy and never had any problems with them.
diamond audio ftw high end stuff a little pricey but worth it
Kicker, diamond audio, ma audio. And i guess jl.
try out digital designs.
