In about a month im going to get some pacesetter long tube headers. Ive looked at quite a few set ups but my question is if i need to get an ORY to go along with my headers. I plan on keeping my stock cats, but not sure if i need the ory or not. I was looking at the kit on texas speed.
i would get it, just makes the install easier and less the exhaust shop has to do, so cheaper.
This will be tough to do without a good welder and chop saw. get rid of the factory y with the factory cats or dont bother with the change at all.. or you could shell out some extra cash for some high flow cats and just get the headers and have a shop figure out the rest.
Its illegal to run without cats on here in Mass. but i think ill just go with the ORY and take out my cats
If you are gonna keep the cats or get high flows DO NOT GET Pacesetters they won't fit unless you are 2 wheel drive and go true duals then I am uncertain if they will fit. Stainless works i think makes a set with cats or some company does, they look good too. I had a custom y built and it did not turn out at all like I wanted it to. It is going to get redone soon. It sounds really good with no cats and 2 aerochamber 3 " mufflers with 2.5" pipes from the headers to the mufflers. Without the cats it is just 2 load for me.Quote:

In texas is it legal to run with LT and a ORY or can you go with the dnyatech super maxx with the high flow cats. ive seen both ways on here, just want to not get hasseled with smog about it. plus you can know people to get it smoged but what if you dont know people is it legal still?
if you live in a emissions county its not legal. If you live in the sticks where they don't do a sniffer or OBDII test on your vehicle you can get away with it easily.

If your current inspection sticker says something about emissions on it then you are supposed to have cats on the truck. Some places don't do the visual check but if they do you'll fail. Normally they just plug into the dash and check for OBDII codes, check the gas cap for leaks and then do the safety check.
so you think that the super maxx with the high flow cats are the way to go? are they better then the passetters?
murdered_out what kind of gains did you see from putting headers on, and ya i do have to pass emissions but its not to big of a deal i can get it to pass, and yes i do live more or less out in the sticks where no one cares about how loud it is
