Yesterday morning on the way to work I passed the 4K mile mark on my '08 Sierra Denali. Had to run a couple of errands mid-morning and it was VERY apparent that the truck was more responsive to the throttle and seemed to have quite a bit more torque and power.
My question is - I'm wondering if there is some sort of "limiter" in the OEM engine calibration which won't allow full power until a certain pre-determined mileage?
Has anyone else noticed this?
I think she is just starting to loosen up.
i have a 08 denali as well, its not quite to 4000 but i havent noticed anything like this

I doubt GM put a "break-in governor" on their new 6.2L motors. Maybe your floor mat was bunched up behind the gas pedal before now? :lol:
I wouldn't be surprised if they did, though. Over the years I've seen GM come up with some really dumb ideas. And I know the technology exists, when I bought new 4 wheelers, the dealer told me that the engine would "run better and have more power" after 300 miles, and he was right. He says something is programmed into the computer, has to do with break-in period.
Well, according to the GM Powertrain engineer, it is nothing to do with the PCM programming.
Copied and pasted (in qoutes below) from his reply to my e-mail:
"Mr. Coulson,
There is nothing we do to restrict performance. Engines do tend to perform better as they "break-in".

Obviously then, this sudden increase in performance was a figment of my imagination.
Did you check the floor mat? :lol:
