I got my from FBI on Ebay, good prices and great to work with, it was steel b/c wanted to weld it for no seams.
go steel...
Steel.
If your bed is fiberglass or abs I would stick with that to keep weight down. Steel is nice if you can weld it for seamless, but most are cut to fit for weld applications. :twocents:
I also got mine from FBI of ebay, i have not installed it yet but looks like a great product. Can't beat the price either, it was only around $90 shipped
I like steel. btw do you have to get rid of the spare with a roll pan? sorry for the jack.
Since your bedsides are not steel, I say do not use steel. Have one fiberglassed in. You will probably have to relocate your spare.
My spare still fits, but it sticks down past the rollpan.
I have a steel rollpan on my fleetside. They dont weigh that much, but I too had to take the spare out. It was resting pretty snug on the end of the roll pan, so I had to take it out plus less weight back there now
No relocation bracket, but it rest against the frame so the tire won't go any higher. If I moved the tire any more forward, it would hit the axle housing. I thought about cutting out the frame, but I didn't want to make it weak. I have a bed cover so the spare lives in the bed now. Maybe a skinny spare lol!
That's what the bed is for!
