My father-in-law has a 69 Roadrunner with a 528 Hemi crate motor from Indy Cylinder Head. About 650 HP, its a street car.

They didn't make a Challenger in 69. That one there is a 72-74. They were made from 70-74. The 70-71 had a different grille. The reason I know is my father-in-law has a 70 Challenger. Not trying to be a smart ass but I am a mopar man when it comes to old cars.
Also that one in the picture has the wrong motor. They used the 340 Six packs in the T/A cars not the 440 Six pack. T/A's were used in the Trans Am Racing series and had to be able to run on a road course, hence the smaller engine.
Awwww....EFF. Sorry. I was gunna put a pic of a 69 Camaro on there but changed my mind at the last minute. Sorry for that. I took the Camaro text off and replaced it with Challenger and didn't even say 1972. Good call though. I know they didn't make them until 1970 also--I am a Mopar man as well... What makes yours even more oddball is the fact that it is a 401 motor. The largest engine you could option in them is the 390...did you have the stock motor bored .030 over to get the 401 ci displacement?????
401 is a stock AMC engine size.
But I didn't AMC only offer the 390 as the biggest motor option for the AMX? What else did they put 401s in? Matadors? Jeeps?Quote:

360,390 and 401 were options in AMXs. One of the guys I work with has a 74 AMX with the 401. :thumb: Orange with white stripes, all original. He calls it red but I say it orange.
