YANK or VIGILATE
just like the title says, i want to get my tranny rebuilt but im looking to buy a 2600rpm stall converter. i know vigilante is the best, but i heard yank is pretty good too, and i think the yank is cheaper, but i dont want something im gonna have to replace next year.
-
I have no experience with a vig, but I know my Yank doesn't give me any problems.
:ummm:I'd have my Yank 2600 for sale(want to go bigger) if I had the money/time/energy to drop the trans. I'd be going with a Yank again.

For the money the Yank is quite a bargain but you're getting a fullsize heavy mass converter. Reducing weight helps like you won't believe. I went from the stock 80e converter to the 9.5" 3500 stall Vig and dropped .6 in the 1/8th.

yeh but red ,hows the driveability?is it real loose like most 9.5s onn the street.my 9.5 i was barely able 2 drive on the street cause everytime i took off in order to get it to go i had to launch it,or it stayed real loose.when i was doing 30 the motor was doing 3000.i just want yellow to know exactly what hes gitting imto, cause he lives up here with me in the north and converters arent that good in the snow .if theyre a higher stall.26-28 is good in my opinion up here but anything after that and yoiure not going anywere in 2 ft of snow.my 2 cents.yellow i want you to consider this in youre calculation cause im sure you drive in the winter ,your truck.

o ya my vote is yank for drivability.but greg is right the heavier 1s arent as loose or light ,in turn doont come up as quick.
-
IMo you cant buy a better converter for the money than Yank..its about 1/2 the price of a PI converter
-
if your gonna race alot then go with the lite smaller PI but if your driving in snow and crap and just want good performance and tow capabilities outta your verter then go with yank...
-
You get what you pay for. I have a PI A+

Both companies make a good converter. If you are looking for something that you can tow with make sure you get a 10.5 converter. This converter will only stall 26-2800 tops. If you are looking to get more than that you will need a 9.5 converter however I do not recommend towing with a smaller diameter converter. I would vote for either converter guess I will have to flip a coin!

I had no issues towing a Jaguar XJ12 on a trailer behind my truck with the Vig 9.5" converter. Now snow driving might be fun/interesting. I say park it when the crappy weather comes and drive a $800 beater. The Vig will pull lower than the stall but not as powerful, which is actually an advantage it loose traction situations. I am loving the way it woke up my 80e. It no longer feels like its geared so high in 1st!

thanks alot guys!! a lot of feedback and info. i guess im gonna go with the yank...but i just gotta figure out which yank. i want a stall of at least 2800 and i want to be tough as hell.
-
they are both good and you get what you pay for vig is the stronger verter if your heavily moded i would go VIG
-
Snow, ice Sleet,.trust Me Not Good With A 9.5 Vig.im Not Biassed Just Logical Cause I Live In The N/e .unless Youre Parking It For Winter.
