I have a 2006 2wd reg cab. Its a DD... I want to lower it but not sure how much? I use to have a 1990 silvy with a 4/6 and liked it, but my friend has a 05 with a 2/4 and it looks good...SO im debating 2/4, 4/6, and even 5/7. Is 5/7 to low for a DD? Would just like some opinions and maybe some pics of your trucks and what you have. Thanks
I don't know a lot about it, but I think I remember hearing that anything greater than a 4" rear drop and you have to notch and/or channel the frame.

I had a 4/8 and I had to notch it, but the ride wasnt too bad. Now im on 3/6 and I hate it. I gotta get these tie rods straight...
it depends on what wheel package u want, how u want it to ride and how much do mind cutting i would do some where around a 2/4 nothing lower than a for 4/6
what ever u decide get DJM, much better than bell tech IMO
Yeah 2/4 sounds good, I dont really want to notch the rear anyway, but damn 4/6 looks badass...Theres a 06 by my house that has a 4/6 with 20s and looks super clean! I want to be able to get traction though so 17's or 18's is what im thinkin so I can get some good sized tires. Maybe something like a 295/50/18 in the rear and 255/55/18 in the front.

Yeah that helps, so what drop is that a 2/4, 3/4? Looks good though, Im not sure what the overload is but how much does it lower it when you take the overload out?Quote:

Sorry to interupt your thread, but since were on the topic of lowering trucks, how come nobody just goes with a new leaf pack... i know belltech makes a 4inch lowering leaf for the back... And mcgaughys makes like a 3inch or something like that... Just a question?
If I had to do it again I would use the drop leafs and the slam air helper bags for the towing. Much Easier than other options.Quote:

Cool, good to know.... for awhile, i thought i was the only one that wanted to do the leaf in the back, and spindles up front... most people only talk about hangers and stuff..
The only complaint that I have heard with the new leaf packs is that the towing rating will be affected, since a 4.3 fullsize is only capable of towing anything short of a small lawn trailer...i'm not at all worried. Hopefully the softer spring rate might make the truck more comfortable.
Most don't run the leaves in the rear because they ride terrible. The only ones worth getting are the Hotchkis leaves and they're pretty stiff. Shackles and hangers or a flip kit allow you to keep the factory ride. I think a 2/5 drop is a good DD height; but you'll probably end up having to notch. I'm at 3/6 and I scrape occasionally because the roads here are in such bad shape.
Slam air lowered air helper springs will make the ride better. I have them on mine and they are great I can tow anytime I want and adjust the height and the ride.Quote:

5-7 is to low u cant go fast an it hit where ever have a 5-7 just get a 4-6 thats low an smoth ride

just do 4\6 put the flip kin and spindles 2''springs and get the c notch it will ride better than stock and some drop socks

Yeah Ive decided to go with a 4/6 drop, 2/4 isnt low enough for me and 5/7 is to low for a DD...
you will deffinately have too c-notch the frame if not you will hit the frame over every little bump. and as far as the losing towing capabilities it is 100% true when i haul two dirtbikes in the bed of my truck it sits down over the top of the rear wheels
