Comp 918 spring broke

A couple of weeks ago i was pulling out the street and i hear a loud tapping sound that lasted about 15- 20 seconds then went away. Then as soon as it quit the truck started running real rough. Truck sounded like it had some bad azz cam. I did a compression check and when i got to the #6 cylinder Zero. btw the truck had just turned over 113,000 miles. Thats about how my luck goes lol. Well I spent My saturday pulling the engine out of my truck. This is what happen when one of my Comp 918 springs broke on the #6 cylinder,:bang: Anybody else have this problem?

My new engine come in tomorrow and i'll drop it in Tuesday. :D

I think I may be changing my springs to dual springs after seeing this,

Ouch!!!! that sucks!

Thats why I will not be buying 918 springs.

How old are your springs? I read somewhere they had a bad batch of springs. Get a hold of comp cams, they may help u out on the re-build.

if you're springs have a blue stripe, they have been recalled. i just got my new set in the mail for free, all i have to do is mail them my old ones back.

it sounds like your new springs won't be free though. that sucks

Call Comp, talk calmly, ask what they're going to do to make things right. have your receipt in hand from when you bought the springs and if you have the original box they came in, have it handy since it's probably got the batch information on it.

Blue stripe! Oh **** mine have a blue stripe. I thought they all had a Blue Stripes. I heard it was some manu. dates that they are recalling?

Do what you can with them for help but get away from the 918's there's been too many break lately including the newer ones. We just had to change a block out in a 99 WS6 due to a set of 918's breaking. If you're running any kind of aggressive lift get you a set of Patriot or PRC duals so this will be prevented. :(

That's what i thought too. i just told them mine had a blue stripe and was bought last year. in a week, i had a new set sitting on my door step.


i have yet to hear about a new set breaking yet, but that's not to say they haven't. i'm going to take my chances and run the new set.
