Supply and demand.Its in higher demand than ever and it also has a higher oil content
In the beginning diesel was a by-product created during the process of making gasoline. Today diesel is in such demand that they are having to produce it as a target commodity. Diesel has become so popular the the gov't and EPA have got their hands into it, demanding specific formulations for over the road trucks vs. farm grade fuels. I'm not exactly sure but after the gas is refined out of a barrel of oil there isn't much left for the creation of diesel fuels. The best thing that has happened for diesels would be the french fry. :laugh:
basically cuae they can bro.. thats the long and short of it. when gas started to go up people ran and bought diesels. so all diesel cars, all that. now you can imagine how much people are paying to feed those work trucks and 18 wheelers. my father in law drives a dump truck. he pays like a few hundred 2 or 3 times per week. its messed up...
one day, i know it would suck for us, but i hope all the truckers go on strike until either the oil companies, or the government does somthing about these stupid ass fuel prices. without truckers, this country would shut down within 7 days. then maybe they would be appreciated a lot more.:mad:
:sadno: after studying the price for oil for 2 terms i have learned that supply an demand means the price of oil should be cheaper then $50 a barrel. It stinks when the oil companys control the supply, they can cause shortages by saying hey guys lets not drill this month, and bam the price of gas will shoot up a few bux. Remember the shortage in the 70's? :LOL: yea some shortage, i wonder why exxon trucks were dumping 1000's of gallons of gas in the desert instead of dropping it off at gas station. :ugh2: you know why it raised last week about .15 cents? The Euro is stronger then the US dollar. well it has been for a long time an what does that have to do with the US oil that US companies drill for in non Euro land. im pretty sure in time someone's consents(SP) will feel really guilty about the billions of dollars they made in a few months, and make them spill the beans or suicide. I thought diesel is a by product of making kerosene. I know its not a by product of making gas because originally gas was thrown out because it was a by product of making diesel and other petrolium products. the fuel everbody buys has been diluted with so much other crap that your car doesnt need and we have to buy it because its the only option. Originally the first diesel engine was designed to burn kerosene and the model t was designed to burn ethanol but sine there really wasnt much use for either one back in the day diesel and gas were way less expensive. The whole gas and diesel price thing pisses me off and it sucks that we pay so much for it and it6s all because of the EPA doing thing that contradict eachother like taking sulfur out of diesel, sure it burns cleaner but does it really help if you are burning twice as much and increasing your dependancy on foreign oil. I thought the whole idea is to reduce our dependancy on foregin oil. The epa is ran by a freaking tree hugging hippie who drives a prius hybrid that doesnt understand that some people need a powerful vehicle to pull heavy loads, then again he can probably afford to have it delivered. This makes me want to start a revolt against the epa

Bio diesel hasnt made a huge impact because its getting expensive to produce now that the cooking industry has realized the demand for their used cooking oil. its great for individuals to go around and pick up for personal use but in order to make a big impact it has to be mass produced and backed by a trustworthy source ie, truck manufacturers, so you would have to pay someone to drive around and pick up all the used oilall over town if he can even get it for free anymore. That means you would need a truck a paid employee, insurance on him and the truck thats more expensive than buying new cooking oil and having it delivered. the manufacturers will let you use up 5 percent bio diesel but it has to be "properly mixed" in order to do that you have to be a refiner, that means the bio diesel gets taxed so that one gets shot down. there is a guy in my area who is buying new cooking oil and making bio diesel then adding a little bit of gasoline to bring up the cetane level, problem is you have to buy in bulk. like 500 gallons plus, last i heard it was 2.15 a gallon. Manufacturers dont support the used of bio diesel because it cant be proven and tested every time to make sure it is properly made.its kind of like moonshine for trucks. They cant provide a warranty if they dont know exactly what is going into the tank everytime. Willie nelson has a small chain of truck stops that produce and sell bio diesel. It wont be long before epa puts a stop to bio diesel as well. Bio diesel is also not profitable for the government. just wait uncle sam will get his share very soon. Nothing mass produced is not taxed in this country. Part of the reason bio diesel is so cheap. Same reason smoking weed is illegal, the government has no way to tax it. too many people grow their own. if weed could be taxed it would be legal because the government would make a profit. Dont get me wrong i dont do drugs and i stay away from it as far as i can, that is just an opinion of a friend of mine i felt was needed and it makes a few good points but also makes a new argument. wont be long before the epa makes us all install catylitic converters on our a$$e$ because we produce to much methane.

Denton has a huge bio-diesel manufacturing facility and a great deal of the city of Denton's vehicles burn it. I'm not too sure how much impact they're making on the environment though. It's also almost impossible as an individual to get waste fry oil around here now unless you buy it, the refinery buys it from the larger restaurants leaving nothing for us. My neighbor wants to do his own bio-diesel but can't get used oil. He may have to get new oil to create the fuel from.

Sucks to be them, makes me glad i live half a mile from work, i should walk for my own health but i cant go a day without driving my truck at least once just to hear the exhaust. either way fuel prices are probably going to go up even higher later this summer.
My g/f is a broker for the trucking ind. trust me we know how bad the price of diesel is. She has contracts with most company's that can only be renewed once a year. yea we are feeling it. A couple year back several truckers went to DC and parked in font of the white house stopping all traffic for over 20 hours in protest. We need that again, but on a larger scale.

In the end we pay for it with higher costs of goods at the market. Truck drivers get paid no matter what unless they're under contract to supply their own fuel at a flat rate calculated prior to the rise in fuel prices.
Red diesel is ultra low sulfur diesel, dye is added to the same fuel that is made for consumer use, the dye is to indicate that it is not taxed and therefor for off road use only. manufacturers dont like it used in the trucks they sell because they cant verify that the fuel meets 100% of the requirements for ultra low 15ppm sulfur content. Plus have u seen they way off road diesel is stored at most farms? in an above ground tank in the cow pasture somewhere all rusted to hell and it takes a farmer a lot longer to use the fuel in the tank (when he isnt harvesting crops) than it does a gas station so fuel doesnt get replenished with new freash fuel very often, it has a lot more time to to be exposed to water and other contaminants as well as algae that will grow in diesel and is almost always found in off road diesel tanks. Thats why manufacturers dont want to warranty injectors and high pressure pumps when red diesel is used. I am no longer allowed by ford to turn down certain warranty claims for injectors because red diesel was used if the fuel filters are clean, if they are clogged with algae, sand, rust and water then we are supposed to turn the claim down. I ahte doing that to poeple and usually dont if they will let me change their fuel filters, to save their a$$es in the long run. Supposedly the diesel comes from the same tank at the refinery and when a truck is supposed to load up with off road diesel the dye is injected as the truck is being filled. So red dye diesel is ULSD it used to not be that way with LSD for those who dont believe it i can provide documentation from ford about it if anyone would like to read it.
And do not forget the price is affected by the nice Energy tax good ol Bill Clinton put on fuel while he was in orifice, Diesel has more BTU's per gallon, hence more energy per gallon, which nets a higher tax.
Also like stated above, red fuel is same as regular diesel, just with the dye for tax perposes, and the road gustapo can dip your tank and see the red and give you one BIG FINE! They do that around here in lower Alabama, the wife was driving my 2500HD and got dipped, she was scared because just 3 days before I said screw it, I am gonna run farm fuel....I did not, so no fine for us, thank goodness.
