Well, got my cam I won from ebay today :smile: . Came out of a 99 C5, I hope, at least that is what the seller says. Also came with some spring retainers, and pushrods, but didn't receive the pushrods yet. I don't beleive I need the springs or pushrods, but I only paid $20. Also, not sure how to go about installing it. Next in line is to get it tuned, just need to save the :twocents: .

I think BigKid and Allen have both done that swap. If I remember there was a thread about doing this swap also. :thumb:

99 red silver is right, Allen just did my cam swap, and he know his stuff, you sure can ask him and this link is for a F-body cam swap, I guess it's very similar to the truck cam so here it is:

No problem, it's a thunder racing comp cam, 212/218 .558/.563 with a 114 LSA (high lift version on lower lsa) also did 918 springs, pushrods and ti retainersQuote:

The cam pulls very strong from 2500 rpm and up, made a lot of difference, the only problem was to make it idle right, NOT for the tunning but because 03 and up trucks have the electronic TB so the computer take a little longer to learn to idle right, but once it does it, it idles great, you can't even notice the cam is there until you punch it.

I will definitely needs some help, I am not too familiar with tearing into an engine and putting it back together. I want to see if I can get it done sometime in the next couple of weeks. Let me know whats good for you and I can check my schedule. Also, is the truck gonna run crappy without a tune.

Pretty much whenever... I have nothing to do anymore as I got dicked out of my job. Just make sure you've got all the crap to do it...running to the parts store sucks.
Gaskets, timing chain, coolant, oil, etc., etc. hahaha Shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming.

Yep , they mean something. Compare the first 4 digits in your number to the last four digits it the part numbers here: http://www.ls1truck.com/reference/oemcam.htm
Your stock springs will work fine with that cam. You can swap the cam in an afternoon with no special tools. Have a good 6pt 8mm socket for the rockers,and grease your cam good before inserting. :thumb:

not to be a post whore but i just got a 01 ZO6 cam and i was wondering if this came will give me any "lope" to the idle, or will it stay a sleeper(he he he).
i think the specs are .525, .525, 204, 208 and 116
any input would be appreciated
I went by a buddy's house to listen to his Z06,not much lope but that's one fast Corvette.
