To roomate or not to roomate that is the question

Ive known this guy for about a year, he works with me and we have always gotten along pretty well. He is into the same things as me, not a druggy or loser. He is about to be 21 so he is near my age and seems to be a fairly clean person. I dont know him extremely well but well enough I trust him. Ive only had one roomate before that wasnt a girl(two exs have lived with me) and I had known him for about 4 years and he only lived with me for 6 months because he was a slob and Im an EXTREMELY clean person, to point that that I have a 600 dollar vacuum and 400 dollar carpet shampooer, I know its a bit overboard but I like my house to be clean. Anyway he is fine with keeping **** cleaned up I could give a **** less how nasty his room and bathroom are as long as the communal area is kept clean. Im not worried about him paying bills because I know he makes good money and is reliable which is a huge plus otherwise I wouldnt even consider it. Itll save me about 350-400 bucks a month which will be nice and allow me to pay a big chunk of my new truck off. Im just not sure how Im going to like having a roomate that I cant sit on the couch naked, eating cheetos and watching porn around. But seriously there are alot of things you cant do when you have a roomate of the opposite sex, when my GFs lived with me it was no big deal, just trying to decide if its worth it to get a roomate. It would be nice to have someone else around but then again I also like being alone. As you can see Im having trouble deciding what to do. What do you all think?

i don't know about you but i will never have a roommate i just don't trust anyone enough to keep up with what they say they will do. plus does that mean you have to give up half of your garage ? :sadnana:

Hell no the garage will stay mine, if he wants one he can get one added to the lease, but there arent any more two car garages so he would have to get a single. The reason why Im even considering him to be a roomate is because I know he is reliable. Hell the guy is at work every day at 4am, no way in hell I could do that. Plus he cooks all kinds of cool ****, he could be my cooking bitch since all I can do is grille **** on the smoker and grille. Ive pretty much talked myself into it but Im just wondering if there is anything I havent thought of, I dont think there is since Ive had a roomate before and I know what to expect.

Well you do work with him, the only thing i would think of is if you guys had a fight or something then your work would feel weird. But if he is reliable and trust worthy then it should be ok, + u save some extra cash, thats always a plus

Roommates are cool. I had two and everyday we met at the fridge to do Wild Turkey shots and then head out to the club to play pool and support the college gals. We kept the place up pretty well and all the poonanny running through the house was interesting. :thumb:

Im a Field Tech aka I have a project in downtown Austin Im on 6 days a week 12+ hours a day, hell you met me there to pick up the hoist, I come to the office 2 maybe 3 times a week, thats part of why I love my job, WAAAYYY under the radar they actually forget about me from time to time. He works in the concrete lab breakign cylinders and such.

Thats kinda what I was thinking but he has a serious girlfriend. But he has gone out with me and some of my other buddies a few times and basically tells his GF to STFU when he wants to go out which is fine by me. If he does end up with me Ill damn sure corrupt him quick, he is going to learn all about the joys of 6th street, Cool River aka cougar den and the Perfect 10 strip club.:lolup:

Oh ok so its not like he is in your group or something. Yea i remember going down there i have drive over there a lot now:lol: when i never use to.

roommates are a good idea if u are financing a house, therefore they are helping u to buy the house, and they have NO claim to it whatsoever.

didnt read all the post, but if you can afford to live alone go for it!!!!! now if ya wanna save dollars then get a roommate.

roommates are overrated... haha just kidding. If this is going to help in modding the truck I say to hell with it and bite the bullet and room with him.

idk just depends on how u feel cody but just remember if u ever do get into an argument then u have to live with that and no makeup sex to make it "all better" lol... hopefully. ive had a few friends as roommates and im still friends with them but u do learn stuff about one another that u wouldnt otherwise as far as how they r as a person in certain aspects of living(like u said cleanliness and such). im pretty laid back and dont care if dishes sit in the sink for a day or on a table for a day, but thats not 4 everyone and u know what to expect. now that me and my girl live together i couldnt be happier 99% of the time.

Id say go for it but make some kind of agreement to get him out if you change youre mind. Like if you want him to leave how long you have to give him. Why dont he have his own place, he makes good money.

id say do it my best friend bought a big ass house now has two roomates that are helping him buy it and he always has extra money to spend ive had roomates before and didnt mind until one would come in and throw cold water on me while doin the nasty freagin assholes.

Just me but I hate Room mates, no running around in house naked, cant nail your girlfriend on the counter any more, or sofa or tv. But thats just me. They have never worked out in my history

He does have his own place, but we were just talking about when our leases were up and he wanted to move closer to work(my place is about 5 min from the office) and I told him about my apts then it just came up living together.

so ur gonna be living with him, his wife, and their kid? now u gotta worry bout a kid too and all their arguing. idk its up to u, just id hate to see a "kid knocked over the new tv" thread here in a few months lol. jk man, gl with ur decision.

NO, the guy SC was referring to is a good friend of mine with a wife and a 3 year old but he is NOT the same guy as the one Im talking about moving in with me. Im not THAT dumb.:LOL:

Eh, I'd say go ahead and try it for a while... What's it gunna hurt expect for helping you pay your stuff off sooner? Why not try it with him: Explain to him that you are kinda on the fence about it and wanna try it out with him for a few months... But does him moving in automatically involve him signing the contract? If not, do like I said--do a 3 or 4 month trial with him and see how it works out... Either you'll be ok with it or hate it. Roomies are cool if you guys are into the same kinda of stuff and if he takes care of his half of things...

Will have to sign a new lease so it will be a year kinda thing. I dont think it will be all tha bad honestly but we will see. he is coming over this Thursday to take a look at the place and we will go fromt here as to whether or not we are going to do this.
