Did you remember to plug in the coil pack connections and hook the fuel line back up?
yea coiil packs are plugged back in and i didnt even disconnect the fuel lines. I looked up in haynes manual and it said the pinion might be stuck? whats that haw can i unstick it? i have to rotate the engine alot to install the roller rockers maybe that did something?
****s and grins check and see if you got fuel pressure, something just isnt firing.. just make sure all connections are connected all the way .
take pics of the engine an post them up, maybe someone will find somthing plugged in wrong or not plugged in at all.
Everything is plugged in i know it. Ive check over and over again. Ive noticed that the belt is spinning but the crank isnt spinning. So the started isnt doing its job? Ill check it tomorrow what should i check it for?
the starter turns the crank, the crank turns the belt accessaries, now if youre saying the belt is turning and the crank isnt, then i am one lost mofo lol
Ok sorry people i had a brain fart there. The crank is turning and the starter is fine its the ignition. I can hear my fuel pump turn on, I have good fuel pressure, i changed out my spark plugs to brand news ones i had sitting around, quardruple check all the wireing, ignition wires are all pluged in firmly. When i was installing the new rocker arms i had to rotate the engine by hand to set them at zero lash, while i was doing that my room mate turned the key to the on position and while i was rotating the engine i heard something turn on. I tild him to take the key out of the ignition and i continued what i was doing. Could of i blown a fuse some how?
Just tried replacing the ignition relay that didnt do anything. So if anyone else has any ideas???
Dumb question, but....
Are the valves set right? You changed the rockers right...
I haven't changed rockers or broken in to the LS- engines but on the older 350s you have to set the vavles via the rocker arms correctly...they could be open too much, not enough...if you have fuel, and fire, it won't run without compression.
Hook a compression gage up to the spark plug holes to see if you have compression. Just a thought...
Do you have a noid light to check and see if the injecters are firing?
sounds like your over looking the obvious! take test light and check all the fuses to make sure.then you might have to pull the valve cover off and recheck rockers. they are correct arent they? Its more than likley a timing, compression problem sir.
Ok ok, i had the 1.75 on there before i did those right and it fired right up? I just did the same thing for the 1.85's? I have checked every fuse that has the word ignition in it even if it didnt seem to have anything to do with my problem. For the rockers you just have to rotate the engine and set the rockers to zero lash? I tightened them so they would just bearly not move any more and i tighted the allen key in the nut Does it sound like i did this wrong? The springs where compressing very nicly when i was rotating the engine? If i cant figure it out i will put my stockers back on.
Just checked to see if i had spark and yes i have spark it shocked my room mate while he was checking. So im going to adjust the rockers and see if there on to tight. If theres anything i put them on to tight.
Any engine lights on?
Hey guys fixed the problem the valves where opening to early... i had to loosen the rockers to were the could shake a little bit so the valves would open?? I didnt feel smart turning it on with them like that but it cranked right on first try... I had the comp cam 1.75's and they didnt go on loosly how the 1.85's just did does any one have any solutions? Also the truck idles at 500rpms now instead of 700?
You should really use a torque wrench.
i did use a torque wrench the first time and it was to tight all my valves where open.
Ok, New to LSX but on the old 350s I'd get the valves close then start it up and loosen the valves one at a time till i heard it clicking...mechs stethiscope works well...then tighten 1 to 1 1/4th turn more. This setting was right on for hydraulic lifters.
sounds like your Push Rods are too long. Like said you dont really set the lash like the old school you just torque the arms in place. I am going to be changing my cam shortly so I have not done one but have read quite a bit. I dont think you want to run them loose.
I have also heard you can shim the rockers if you need to...
good luck
