wow nice job dale, they look beautiful. i will do that probably this summer, but i will practice on some parts first
thanks for the pics. the last one looks like a new paint job
-
Its a lot of damn work! Thanks Ricky...try it on a spot you cant see and use lots of water and very little pressure and then polish it out.And it was 1200 grit not 2400
-
oh ok, so what kind of polish did you use after you sanded?
-
3M rubbing compound and then Techwax
-
ok thanks dale, i think ill try it in the bed. an if i do a good job ill move on :) it will be a fun summer project. do you think it would be safe to use gold class liquid wax after the polish?
-
Sure..whatever you like.Just get it real shiny before you wax
-
OK Dale I'm bringing my truck to you. J/K but it would be nice to learn to do that.
-
I learned how to do it when i painted my plastics under the hood.Lots of trial and error...and i charge by the hour
-
haha thanks for the help Dale. I remember watching Stacey David doing this once on a black ford exploder but i figured he is probably just promoting someone an i should get real advice haha
-
The cool thing is it levels out the factory orange peel and makes the finish smooth as glass. :thumb:

Ricky--good job on getting the swirl marks out! :thumb:
You should try doing and inconspicuous spot first--like THE ROOF. Do the clay bar, wet sand (1200 grit and lots of H20), then follow with the 3M Rubbing Compound (like Dale said), and then finish it off with a high grade 3M wax/polish. I would use a variable speed rotary buffer to apply the finishing wax... It would look badass!
