alright my prob. i have a o4 4x4 ext cab 4.8. my mods, airaid tubular intake, k&n drop in, powerair tbs, descreened maf, redneck ram air, custom 3 inch exhaust, stock headers and cats, hypertech pp3, and jet billet servo. my friend has the exact truck same year only a 5.3 ltr, with k&n and borla exhaust. from a 20 roll i pull maybe a half a car but 60 to 80 or above HE STILL PULLS A CAR ON ME AND EVEN MORE. wtf am i doing wrong or does he just have a factory freak? please help
Ever heard the saying there is no replacement for displacement? Living proof. BTW, descreened MAF is probably killing your power.
Get rid of your hypertech and get a custom tune- Nelson Performance. Get you a maf with the screen in it.

well the poweraid TBS does nothing, and the descreened MAF has been proven to loose power on these trucks, and IMO the hypercrap is virtually worthless.
With a bone stock 4.8 and a custom tune from nelson performance your 4.8 would pull your buddys 5.3 with just the K&N drop in and the Borla catback and do it at any speed.
For what you paid for the Hypertech you could have had a custom tune, and free retunes for life.
the only thing i use my hyper tech for is to read my computer :lol: check for DTC
Well...4.8L vs. 5.3L. That should pretty much tell the story. Also, what gear you guys have? Sounds like you have 3.73's and he has 3,42s...
Yeah, what Mike said. How about this...get a Nelson tune, put in the stock MAF, get rid of the TBS...and if your friend STILL runs you, I'll give you $100...

your 3 inch exhaust could be a problem too.
in my eyes 4.8 vs 5.3 is a big difference.... ive raced stock to stock same trucks just different motors and my 5.3L put on about 2 to 3 trucks on the other one....
I agree with the guys about the tune and stuff. I have an ext cab 2wd 4.8 and My first run at the track was 16.0 at 88.6 with off-road tires, no locker and open exhaust with a nelson tune. I put a single chamber, with smaller street tires and ran Slimsilverado's reg cab 5.3, and pulled him 2 out of 3 races, by like 1.5 - 2 lengths, all the way to 90mph. you get a stall, headers, exhaust (2.5 is fine) and a locker you will make your buddies look slow as a ford.
The 3" exhaust is too big for your mods. You're not moving that much air for that big of pipe. And the 5.3 has the advantage due to displacement obviously. And that hand held needs to go.
i ran a guy with same model truck as mine the difference he had flow master dumped and was using hypercrap...everytime i would pull 1-2 trucks by 80mph...big difference was he was rapping his truck to 6000 rpm and mine was still set with stock rev limiter but with the nelson tune....definetly get a tune
well i found out some interesting shiit. hes just been ****ing with me. he has the exhaust and kn but he also has a tuner and A 6.0 LITRE. so im actually keeping up with a 6.0 not 5.3 and by the way i raced another friend that i know for a fact is a 5.3 z71 with a exhaust and i raped him 7 ways from sunday. even from a dead stop he got a little jump but i was passing him at 20
So if you get a real tune and a maf meter with a screen, youll beat a 6.0.
