wow i wouldnt have liked that much :ugh2:
power to weight. those new si's have almost 200 at the crank. and weigh less than 3k. and you can always tell yourself he sprayed on you.
WTF you got beat by a civic SI he must have been sprayin, My truck isnt even tuned and I walked a new SI a month or so ago from a 40 roll.......... DONT LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN......... :ugh2:
well...my truck is running horrible, when you step on it some times it acts like it wants to die like it gets flooded, and the engine temp sensor jumps all over the place making it idles wierd....so today i ordered some o2 sensors and and engine temp sensor, i might coulda took him if it was running right, i dunno.
maybe your thermostat is bad. when you see it fly all over the place that normally means its bad. and or your water pump is bad. my v6 ran terrible when the water pump went out, got better mpg though. fixed the water pump threw in a new stat and filled up the coolant an she ran like a beast. check for leaks around your water pump an maybe change the stat. good luck!
that sucks man, my truck wipes its ass with those civics. good about hangin with the 6.0 tho.
Man is there something about us 6.0L? This all I hear lately is I beat a 6.0L here and a 6.0L there?
Tell us about your buddies truck. Is it modded, is it a 3/4 ton, heavy 1/2, SS VHO what?
Not trying to pick just curios.
Those 4.3L are good stout motors.
If you want to race a good 6.0L, race Jethro 3.
Jamest
yeah, no leaks the prob i think with the coolant temap sensor is either the sensor or a short in the harness somewhere as it is a used harness. and its not a consistent problem,
you can have the truck idling in park and it will be fine and if you move it outta park the temp gauge goes from about 170 over past 210 and the idle drops to about 300rpm for a split second and then the gauge goes back to about 170, any time you move the shift column it does something to the temp gauge...oh and some times when i start it the temp gauge goes all the way up and wont start, you can let off the starter and try again and it will be fine,
Yeah man, its the wiring harness. There is something faulty in the steering column or a ground is not properly tightened. Make sure to check the grounds on the back on the heads by the firewall and the one down by the front of the block by the power steering pump.
i put both grounds on the back of the block on the same bolt...this cause problems?
Yes. Keep them separate. If they were to be combined on one ground bolt, GM would have done that from the factory.
i beat a new si b4 so how did you lose man
like i said, it was after i switched the harness and its not running right, the temp isnt reading so it runs like is cold all the time (always idles fast) and the o2 sensors arent reading at all right now, when i raced the 6.0 it had the other harness and it was running right,
Sounds like a blown fuse for the 02 sensors or faulty ground. A bad coolant sensor or wire shorted in the coolant sensor wiring can cause the same kind of issues.
yeah im hoping for a faulty ground, im gonna look and see what i find after work
ok...just redid all my grounds, they are in the factory locations now...along with my hand being tore up from getting the one on the drivers side and the back of the block....anywho still having the same problems....i dont have the back o2 censors plugged up cuz i had nelson turn them off, they arent used for a ground are they?
Damn---yeah, I should have told you to take the intake off first... Whoops! Sorry...
Ok, did you UNPLUG the O2s from the harness, or are they just hanging around or tucked in the frame? You must completely unplug them. I would also go check and see what kind of voltage readings you get from the engine water temp sensor---the sensor at the front driver's side of the block up by the #1 spark plug... Unplug it and start the truck--then measure the voltage--if it is all over the place, you know it's the wiring and not the sensor...
will the voltage change or just the ohms?....the back 02 sensors are completely unplugged.
yeah, my bad--just the Ohms. If the reading from the wiring harness connector is all over the place, it's the harness. If not, the water temp sensor is bad. There is a ground just below the water temp sensor...is that bolted down correctly?
yeah...all three grounds on the harness are in the right place....i made sure of that last night.
