does anyone know if the bbk intake manifold for the ls1's and ls6's will fir on the 5.3's?
yep sure will
i hear they get hot and cause heat soak cause of the aluminum.wich means higher iats.my 2 cents
stick with your truck intake...is that an option?
wouldn't putting an aftermarket intake be better though?
so the bbk isnt worth buying?
I have head of people using spacers made of fiberglass, or a non conductive material. so heat does not soak. If your getting that style intake Id get a fast or a ls6.

depending on your setup, "upgrading" your intake may be a waste of money and possibly hurt performance
unless your taking your truck over 6200rpm or so, a car style intake isn't really necessary. claims of bottom end loss have been reported, not to mention, it's quite an expense to convert over. stick with the truck intake for now imo
yeah, unless your spinning over 6200 on a regular basis your better off with the truck intake.
There is a place called LS2portworks.com that ports out the stock composite intakes, they do all the LS1,LS2,LS6,LS7,L76,L92 truck intake, and they also port out the truck DBW TB for increaed flow. Now they dont list the 4.8/5.3/6.0 truck intake on there site, but i called to see if they have ever done any and what kind of gains are possible, for the basic port job they charge 235 plus a core charge, or you can send in your stock intake and takes about a week to get it back, and the DBW TB porting is 165 i believe, and with a core also. Might be a way to sqeeze all you can out of the stock truck intake. they are reporting 12RWHP and 16RWTQ on an L76 intake and as much as 20RWTQ under the curve, so i think its worth the money.
Its not worth the low end torque your gonna loose,Unless you go heads and big cam and stall
Weiand has a street warrior intake coming out pretty soon. That might be something to look into. Its supposed to be good from 2000 to 6200 rpm.
Heres a link to some thoughts about it

WOW! I love it. There you go Ramsey, the manifold of the future. Bide your time and you can buy one of those nice intakes. Better yet, buy two and send me one! :thumb:
those numbers are for a car i'm sure, not our big heavy trucks.
and as far as spending all that money to port a stock intake, prolly not worth it either. Not saying that an LS6 intake or the like isn't worth it, but it should be a later mod. say after you're running a 220+ cam 3200+ stall 4.10- gears then consider getting you a nice intake. just my take on the situation
