Yeah. We have our own mixing banks here at the shop, so I can tint colors if needed. It isnt to hard once ya learn how to do it.

Did you ever finish smoothing the interior panels in your SS?

I got one door done, and the back other one is primed and half way sanded. I havent really worked on it. Kinda of lost interest, and I have been swamped in side work.
-
Well, I guess its better to be making the money rather than spending it but it sucks to have a project only started and not yet finished.

haha Yeah., People get in my truck and are like WTF! The passenger front door is all nice, red and swued and the driver door is normal. Ill be done one day, but as long as there is side work my truck will have to wait.
-
lol i feel you i did my dash and door panels now im working on all the small stuff and damn its time consuming...i have probably 20-25 hours of sanding on each door and about 20 on the dash... PITA but looks great after. I wish someone around here could mix pewter to match my damn truck every time i paint something it never matches! i want to shave my rollpan and do my tail gate but can never get a paint to match..

Go to any PPG distributor and they can match it and mix up a quart for you or so. You just have to be careful spraying your color and get the metalic to lay down right.

very nice....telll him to tint the tail lights though

It doesnt matter what color primer you spray. You need to spray a sealer after you you sand the primer and prep it. The sealer can make a dif on the color if you base coat is thin. You can spray sealer from white-black. So with your color I would do a light grey. Then 2 nice coats of base and a fog(misting it to get the metalik to lay down and not mottle or tigerstripe) coat then 2 coats of clear and you should be good.

i would imagine that the sealer then needs to be rescuffed before paint? i will hopefully get to try this out come spring time.

Not it doesnt need to be touched. Spray the sealer, go mix your basecoat, put it in the gun and spray that right of the sealer. You are NOT suppose to sand sealer, only seal the primed areas that you are painting.
-
sweet thanks for the help! ill give it a try this spring

Only bad thing is, with alot of HP going to the ground, its gotta give somewhere. And the weakest part of the bed is on where the rollpan is welded in. They start to crack from the bottom up, but they end up cracking like an inch and thats it, even if I weld the whole thing. But the crack usually stops where you cant see it at the bottom.

Ok, ok. I digress. I had NO idea I was dealing with a Special Ed. candidate!
-
 I have all day... I can dig up stuff from last year if you want...

Have at it Turbo. I may misspell a word for pronunciation purposes, but usually I am spot-on.
Jeff, you have to remember I am only 2 classes away from having a second BA---in English.
-
... And that means what? That you have a "piece" of paper that will stop you from ever making a typo? :bs:
-
No, it means I can get a second piece of paper that renders me 100% exempt from making a typographic error. But anyway, I am done. We are clouding up other's threads. I won. HA!

That means you have way too much time on your hands:laugh:
-
I wish! I was waaaaay busy when I was in school. I used to HATE English is JR and HS, but I was always really good at it. <--And yes, I did end that sentence with a nominative pronoun. But once I got into college, I ended up liking it more and more--so I decided to start venturing on my way into getting a second major in English--but decided against it at the last second--I wanted to get out of school ASAP--after being in school for 6 years, you kinda wanna do something else!
-
Ill stick to my construction science degree and thats it, school is for losers, real world exeprience is where its at.:deal:
-
Dude--no crap! I wish I wasn't in a field where a piece of paper said who you are and how much you can make... But unfortunately, both are needed for me... I could get by without this said piece of paper, but I kinda wanna make at least six figures...
-
Yeah, I will stick to saving people from property loss, injury, and death. That seems to be my strong point. :spit:

Same for me, I eat degree'd engineers for lunch daily, I love making them feel like an ass and the four years they spent in college seem like a total waste.
With the company Im thinking about going to work for the highest I can go is assistant superintendent until I get a degree but that'll be fine for me for the next 6ish years, 50K, with gas paid and 5-15K bonuses every year.:woot:
-
I can't wait to see mine finally painted, but once it is painted that means motor work. It is all never ending, fun though. That is some real good work you do.
