Finally bought my 6.0, Got ?'s Now!!

So finally picked it up 02' 6.0 out of a Denali trk with 65k, so here goes the ?'s. I have poured throught this site looking for answers and just probaly not looking hard enough.

Eng. came out of a Denali trk so what HP does it have stock?
Dont want EGR, what to plug hole in intake with?
Removed EVAP solenoid on top on intake, plug with what?
Will F-body LT's work on my trk?
Has a return fuel rail, so where is the regulator, is it on the rail?
Can i use my stock radiator or do i have to get the 99and up one?
Any 99 and up PCM work?

Bear with me, im sure i have will have more ?'s, these r the one I can think off hand!!

Oh it had FBW TB, r those better than cable operated TB's??

1.) 345
2.) Yes, use the existing plate that the EGR bolts onto the intake with and fabricate your own solid gasket with some silicone to seal it. One of the easiest things I have done...
3.) Use one of your butt plugs... Hehe, j/k. NOt sure what you could use...
4.) No, they are tucked up too lcose to the frame rails. I think Nitrous is trying to get some LS1/OBS headers custom made by someone. Check his thread to see the progress on what has happened...
5.) It should be---on the driver's side towards the back where it heads down the backside of the motor...
6.) You can reuse it, but getting the tranny cooler lines to match up might be an issue (if your truck has tranny cooler lines)
7.) I would recommend getting an 02 PCM for the LQ9. The 99-00 PCMs had a slower processor and the 01-02 had a faster, better reading processor.

Since your truck has the cable TB, I would go ahead and put on a cable TB for the LQ9. The other details can be adjusted with the tune...

quik i got a 2001gmc with a 4.3v6 and just bought a 2003 6.0 from a denali and i have some questions too.

I will be using a cable driven tb, so i must use the pcm from 01 v6???

denali 6.0s were lq4s and not lq9s???

The LQ9 was available starting in the 2002 model year... But depending on when the motor was built, it very well could be a LQ4. And yes Quik, your hp/torque numbers are right...

Get the numbers off the block and trace it back that way. Or if you can get the VIN of the truck it came from, you can call the dealer and have them look it up for you...

I want to say it had a U not an N but i will c

where r the # on the block?

Not to hack the thread..I can start another one if need be..but how would my engine operate if I failed to plug the egr or evap holes?

12558346 is a factory EGR block off plate that will run you about 12 bucks at a dealer. your car probally wouldnt stay running since that would be one hell of a vacume leak. as far as the hole in the exhuast... just grab some aluminum (beucase its soft metal thats easy as pie to cut and drill) and make you a block off plate.

if you dont wana do that, i know my friend bought some ls1 headers and we didnt use them, i weleded the hole shut and ground it smooth. i could see how much he would wants.. probally like 6 bucks or so.

got the vin the 8th digit is a U, so LQ4

So will the LS1 headers fit my 89' PU?
Im assuming long tubes?

If they fit it will be the first one that they fit on. Check with NITROUS, he is working to get the OBS trucks some long tube headers designed. He's very close to finished.

its a lq4 but has like 325 hp. its around that number and 370 tq

Will an LS1 throttle body work with the 6.0??? I have decided to go with a cable driven throttle body!

ls1 t/b will fit. a 5.3 t/b will fit
you can make any header fit any truck. just might need more fab work.
in my 1st case, my friend gave me his edlebrock victor ls1 headers for free, becuase they were really really beat up. the collector was trash. anyway, it was for fitment anyway and in the 87 truck the passengerside went in almost un modded, a simple dent of a tube and a little trimming of the inner frame rail ( >.4"). the drivers side was almost a perfect fit with the exception of the #4 tube. closetst to the firewall. look at my Putfile - Welcome to my homepage! files. you will see what i am talking about. once i cut that one bend off... its a really really crazy bend that fits ls1s but it hits the control arm of the truck. anyway after spending about 5 minutes cutting and tacking, i was able to re route that tube. now that that was solved, the collector needed to be straghtned out. out of the box, its pointed to the drivers side door, a quick chop and weld its strait again. i think it woulda posed a problem with the shift linkage but i didnt get that far with those headers. i ordered pacesetters and made them fit.
they required a lot of denting on the drivers side. the ls1 headers sat flush with the frame rail, and the pacesetters passengerside sat flush- exact same as the ls1 pass. side but the drivers pointed down a tad. no biggie since it allowed full travel of park to 1st.
