Im trying to put a full console in my 06 rc, i removed all of the trim pecies on the dash and started to pull the seats out and couldn't get any socket to fit the nut. also how do you hook up the cig lighter and pw point.

Don't you have to modify the exsisting dash assembly in order for a console to fit? I know you have to remove the center seat, but what else is there? I've been thinking about doing this myself for a while.
they sell the console and then the trim pieces on ebay.... sometimes you can find a deal with everything other times you gotta find em seperate
I think I used a 15mm 12 pt socket and it worked in my 03'. my console is grey and my enterior is tan but it is a work in progress. I'm tryin to get it to suck all the way up to the dash but I have to cut some **** out of the console.

yeah i may have to do a bit of fiberglassing to get it to work in my 98 but whatever thats what its all about CUSTOM haha
What trim pieces are we talking about?
Who has a pic of the console installed and looking good? Also, anyone have pics of the trim pieces we are talking about?
for all you OBS truck guys hopefully in a few weeks ill have a post of a 99-02 style 2 piece console in my 1998 truck. I have it all set in and it FITS GREAT i had to fabricate a piece of plastic for a gap on the passengerside where it molds to the dash but surprisingly its already shapped the same i am removing my factory cig lighter and accessory plugs and putting them where the cd player goes in the 99-02 console. as far as the rear portion it fits perfect on the hump and the mounts are molded perfectly to the floor i will jus have to design a way to bolt all 4 legs in as my truck came with a bench. ill try and post some pics when i get a sec of what its looks like as of now. the plan is to have my t56 shifter come up through my cup holder (thanks QUIK your an inspiration).
oOoh way to go wtfan!! I may have to do that too once i see how yours fits.
aight guys heres some in progress pics. still a ways to go but you get the point. when its done it will be painted to match my interior. i cut 2 inches out of the stock seat brackets that came with the bench seat and made a mount for my buckets i bought 2 years ago. lemme know what you think. i had to add a piece of plastic and melted it in into the console then used bondo over it. havent sanded it and its still a rough pic of what it'll look like but it fits great with the seats just a little modifying with the dash but what else is new. its just placed in there at the moment but it actually mates alright with the dash. you wont be able to see the cutting i had to do on the top piece when its done.

*applause* So the 6 speed comes up nice through the cup holder then?
if all goes well it should! thats the goal. ill get more pics up later on in the progess. as far as holing it in place i think im going to use the seatbelt studs and weld custom legs onto the base and bolt the front brackets up to the metal frame support for the dash
would it be possible to put a hurst or b&m shifter in the console for an automatic?
hahah that i dont know about ive always owned a manual i am clueless about the autos. sorry man
Im still stumoed on the lighter & power point. there was no way mine would just plug in. any one have any suggestions.
i am making a custom one.. i removed my factory plugs and cig lighter from the factory plastic holder and am going to mold a piece of plastic housing all of them where the radio used to be in the upper part of the console. im in the middle of priming my console etc... i changed my mine and decided to cut the kick panel so it hids most of the top of the console and actaully sits closer up in the dash so you dont really have to cut anything other than the kick panel.. ill try to get some more pics this weekend for you.
if you dont want to cut get the dash pice that clips on and the glove compartment from a tahoe and it will fit perfect with out cutting
in a 98 truck? i know when my buddy put one in his 04 he changed that to aviod cutting but in a 98 old body i dont know if thatd work... its all set i cut my kick panel so it mounts nicely now. its being smoothed at the moment for paint.
