Just bolt it in there. Use all your 4.8l parts and bolt them onto the LS1 with your existing harness.
Your wiring harness should work fine. You will need a tune and maybe some misc stuff to hook up fuel lines etc. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
A tune will make the most of your new power. I drove mine with the 4.8 tune for a good while before I got it tuned for the 5.7. Fuel lines will hook up the same as now if you use your truck intake off your 4.8.
i wish mine was that easy
If you just use the longblock and not accessories it will swap straight over. I'm thinking you'll need some bigger injectors, maybe not. The tune will definitely have to be updated. You'll have to swap out all accessories and the crankshaft pulley. You'll probably have to swap valve covers, PCV tubing and coil packs, too. Be sure to see that they oil pressure sender is the same as yours or just swap them.
you think ill notcie i good power gain????
oh yeah! The engine is supposed to be about 345 hp but with headers Popular Hotrodding dyno'd one and it put out more than 400 at the crank.
then yes i will do it, probably do a cam and stall with a shot
ill be right behind u lol ima do that 5.7 if its that ez
yea for sure
I picked up a second in the 1/4 with no other changes.
Check the bolt pattern on the valve covers!! Redheartbeat is right, some LS1's will have a perimter style valve cover and will require brackets for you to mount the coil packs. You shouldn't have to buy the LS1 coils at all. If by chance the LS1 has a center bolt pattern style valve cover then youre ok with the truck coils and brackets. Fuel injectors will be fine since they're only 4lbs less than the LS1's you shouldn't see too high on the IDC.
what would i have to do since i have a 4.3 in my truck. Would i need the ls1 wiring harness and computer. Also is it possible to put a 6-speed in a single cab 2001 chevy.
