OH YEAH! its fixin to take a dump!
(...as the trumpet sounds playing the Death March...)
Go FLT
^ thats what i've been looking at...
I figure since its about to go out i might as well build it up to either a level 4 or 5 like yours. That way i have one less thing to worry about on my mods list down the road. I'm glad its happeing now because right now i probably have just enought to get it the trans fixed. If i would have gotten the tune sooner i might be up S**T Creek right about now with limited funds.. :(
welcome to the club if blowd up trannys
bend over and grab your ankles cause your trans is going to :puke:
been there done that, and that club SUCKS!
billy has a hell of a tranny builder up there and has a daum good price as well...
I'll throw in my vote for Sparky at Lonestar Transmissions in Rockwall. Really nice guy and will take care of you.
thats a ****ty feeling, I would go FLT or performancebuilt, they are having a sale right now that is hard to beat, txsilverado runs their tranny and is holding up pretty good...
Will any 4l60E trans bolt up to my truck?
Talked to one of my friends... and his brother has a rebuilt 4l60E he is wanting to get out of his garage..only wants $100
Came out of a 4.3L s10....
your best bet is to go get it done right, i have a trans shop you can call that will take care of you if you tell him i sent you over there, Moze was at his shop earlier this week and was very pleased with him
$100 just sounds pretty tempting for a working trans... i could buy that keep it in storage with the rest of my engines for a future project late down the road...and get my current trans built up still. Truck is still under warranty but i dont want a new factory trans..
that $100 trans is not going to hold up i promise that, what year is the trans also
2000 model
It will fit. How "rebuilt" was it? Back to factory specs, or was it beefed up slightly? Since it is only $100, buy it, build it up yourself since it is out of a truck... Then once yours goes Kablewey, have the warranty get you a new one. Have the dealer install it. Then once it is in, take it out---swap in the built one and sell the new one put in by the dealer. Built tranny paid for.
Thank you all---what I say as I take a bow... But for reals, building a tranny while it is out of the truck is wayyyyy easier. Seriously--you can't beat a rebuilt 4L60e for $100....
Yeah, building the transmission while it's still installed in the truck is pretty tough to do.
Starting on the Crown Royale a little early?
MAYBE. It's never too early for a little Crown... And I use the word "building" loosely... I was thinking along the lines of a kit with accumulator pistons, new springs, servos, etc. Not a complete Level 5 rebuild. Yes, you would have to take it out then... Greg, I am dumb, but not that dumb...
well I'm wanting to build the trans up to handle a mild modified lq4 for the future.. since i'm planning to do a swap further down the road when the time comes...
honestly, I'm really not familar with transmissions at all guys...(In fact i never have took one apart to see whats all inside) I'm not a very organized person...
Anyways i was told that 3rd and 4th are really weak in the 4l60E from my brothers friend at work who does transmissions and rearends..
Is there anything else i might need to look into swapping out besides... the accumulator pistons, new springs, servos.. that has been mentioned above?
Any help guys would be really appericated.. Because i'm dumb and clueless on this kind of stuff.... I see all this stuff listed on these performance transmissions sites but i dont know what all the little parts do.. If anyone can take the time to list the parts i should take in consideration in upgrading. It will help me be able to talk it through with the friend of my brothers... and get this ball rolling
There just so happens to be a transmission sticky locked in place just for people just like you. The search button can be your friend. :thumb:
