Daniel
And when im driving down the highway and it doesnt lock up my Tranny Temps get to about 220!:cry:
Uh HUH! I knew it was going to happen... Fuddle TC's are only good for about 20k-30k... Soory to hear that Daniel. You should upgrade...Yank or TCI!!!
I have seen over 250 a few times during street driving.... on the dyno i made about 5 pulls and never over 190???... Mine is a 3200 stall but in a RCSB
My cooler is under the bed... and at any point i can check it and its allways under 190.... its 21x14 with a fan... and a switch to come on at 170... I can put my hand up to the cooler with the fan on and the air never gets that hot...
Daniel, are you going to get another Fuddle? Even under warranty, I would sell it and get a Yank or P.I. Or Virgil is having good luck with the Phoenix built converter...
yeah this phoenix one has taking some hella abuse to it and it is holding fine
yeah that crap sucks when they go out
Fuddle Duddle Buy a 10.5" Vigilante 3-Disc Multi-Disk Lock-up for Trucks
Finish Line Transmissions | Performance Transmissions | Torque Converters | Transmission Parts | Transmission Service
^ that's a long link title lol
Yea i dont know about u guys but 700 - 900 for a vigi is alot of money for a converter, yank and tci are more reasonable.. around 500 or so...
TCI's suck really bad, I blew the lock up clutch in the old one I had in less than 10K miles. I beat the **** out of it but still should have lasted longer.
TCI's are getting a pretty bad rep and Fuddle's have earned a bad rep in the truck community. John Fuddle is a great guy to deal with, but being a great guy doesn't pay for converter swaps.
If cash is an issue, get a Yank, Art Carr, or the Phoenix that Virgil is using. There are some others as well that MIGHT work and have a good rep in some communities (the Edge converters come to mind).
If I were you, I would pay cash for a new converter of your choice, when you get it, pull the Fuddle and put the new one in, advertise the new warrantied Fuddle on the forums with "buyers choice of stall speed", and when you have a buyer, have John ship it directly to the them. That's what he did for me. Just make sure he'll do the same for you before advertising obviously...
I agree on the Yank but not the TCI. Another way to look at it is: for the cost of the Fuddle, the cost to install the Fuddle, and then the cost to swap converters (unless you do all that yourself), you could have bought a Vigilante and been fine (what I wish I had done my first go-round).
Do it once, do it right.
You could not pay me to put a fuddle or TCI in my truck. I read enough before i bought mine. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
On a side note. TCI if I remember right use to be in North Alabama and got bought out. They were great then, now I think not. Even If I was pulling the verter and putting the new one in. What is your own time and aggravation worth X2 cause the new one is gonna go south just like the original then you will be back at square one.
daniel yeah this verter may be free but wait till it bombs ur tranny and ull wish u had gotten the yank. spend $ now to save $ later and time and frustration and all the "i told u so's" u know are already comin...
LOL... funny stuff
I have TCI stall and have been driving on it hard for well over 5,000 miles pretty much day after day not a single problem... Maybe all of you who have bought one from them got the crappy ones that were made at 4:59 on a friday afternoon who knows.. IMO: Best $500 i spent on my truck..
5,000 miles isn't much. My Fuddle crapped at about 10k I think it was. Virgils at 20k if I remember correctly. They were both awesome converters until they went south. I'm sure TCI's work great too. I would keep your fingers crossed. Lot's of people are having issues with them. Not knocking you at all - just saying people are having issues with them. And not just on forums...I mean customers of performance shops. Ask TRT why they don't use them anymore.
Mine cracked the sprague gear inside when i hit the nitrous it my have been to much of a shock to it i guess
Yeah but Fuddles claims are that they can take that, correct? Didn't yours have the anti-ballooning plate and all?
That is the SAME thing your mom said when she freaked out last night...
But I also tried a few more on her that she liked:

Lmao...
Okay, gentlemen, you've had your fun. Someone that doesn't know that you guys know each other in the real world may misinterpret what's going on in here so lets get back on topic.
Sorry
okay Greg i edited my post :D
Yeah Virgil...stop messing around...
So, Daniel, are you going to drop the tranny yourself, or are you going to be lame and have someone else do it?????
let me tell ya about it, a bunch of old hippy stoners, lol it's whatever it gives me money to buy stuff for the truck
Oh, whatever---you don't need a tranny jack--those 65e's are that heavy...hehe. Damn, if you would have said something earlier, I would have made arrangements to come down there and hang out. My Saturday is full, and I will be about 100% worthless on Sunday from the killer hangover I know I am going to have...
damn I've had real good luck with my fuddle? I think I have like 15kmiles? and its been holding up real good, best 60' of 1.67 N/A...... my tranny temps would also go up until I finally got the best tranny cooler out there... (tru-cool 40,000gvw) my tranny temps dont over 160degrees in the summer and beating the **** out of it....:D everyone should invest in one of these coolers.
Red, I hope you get it figured out and it works for you, I know its hard not top spend on another one, I personally would send it and get it refreshed also... but thats just me...
by the way mine is a 3200 on a 2.2str... but it flashes at 3900-4000rpm!!:D
