The new CTS-V is nice.
i been watching videos of it on youtube and reading about what it has. holy crap it is awesome!! i want one.
I definately would get one if I were you. Those things can move.
The only Caddy with a big displacement motor is the CTS-V. The other V-spec vehicles use the supercharged 4.4L V8. They crank out some impressive numbers, but they are super pricey... You could probably get into a slightly used 05 CTS-V with 20K miles for ~33K...
Only problem is you will catch hell trying ot make the rear half shafts and diff last under high hp and stiff launches, I have seen three kill rear diffs at the track. You can upgrade just like anything else but a good rear diff and half shafts is going to run over 2K easily. It is the only caddy car I would own though, if I didnt need a truck I would have one.
well i went to the bank to see if they can loan me the money for one. i told them between 25k to 55k that i was shopping for. they will call me tommorrow and let me know. then i just got to find a good one.
Did you check the link I left on my last post? There are some nice slightly used ones out there for cheap compared to new... And beware of what Cody was saying--and the shifting linkage on the T-56 is having a bunch of problems too--far what I've heard... I would only spend around $30k on a low mileage unit--and spend a little extra beefing up what is weak...
That was quick, lol.
Most of these cars are in good shape and anything with around 50K or less will be a good running engine. Make sure it doesn't have a cold start knock, which isn't that bad, doesn't smoke and the clutch feels good.
It'll basically come down to how clean the car is, because every cts i've been in is very clean.
good choice,
allen
i did see the link, im always afraid to buy used from a dealer because they are so often either been leased or rental cars that have been beaten on really bad.
when hertz or some rental place leases them for a year it can still be claimed as a 1 owner car. i may end up getting a new one depending on what the bank says if i cant find a good used one privately. but i been browsing autotrader. is there any fix for the linkage? can the rear end be swapped out for something stronger?
thanks for the link also.
From what has been said, you can swap an 06 rear axle in there--that will fix the problem. Here is a link that you'd be interested in... Also, the shifting linkage is an issue in some cars...not all have them. I am sure you will register with CTS-V forums soon and get all of that stuff ironed out...
Yeah, do a 06 and newer. Plus, they've got the LS2 6.0L from the Vette in it.. :)
well i just got back from bank and the dealer. the bank wont let me know until tommorrow  but after going to the dealer and seeing what they had i made a decision. i checked out a 2007 cts which is basically the same interior other than the manual trans and then i checked out an 08. holy crap the 08 is freaking amazing:eek:
im gonna order a black/black 08 cts-v
the only problem is it is gonna be like 5 months to get it. by then i can almost pay for it anyways and may not have to even go thru the bank which will be really nice.
I was kicking around the same thought......But for that kind of money I will just wait on the new Camaro......
It would take me six years to pay it off. You guys with instant cash available make me :puke:
i found out there is no 2008, its a 09 thats why its gonna be so long

2009 Cadillac CTS-v - Auto News - Motor TrendQuote:
What's good for the Blue Devil is good for the Cadillac CTS-v. The next-generation muscle-Caddy, which is expected in the 2009 model year along with the quicker-than-Z06 Chevrolet Corvette, also will get the supercharged LS7 7.0-liter powerplant. While the Blue Devil, which will be named Z07, will have about 700-horsepower ("Trend," June), expect the engine to be detuned somewhat for the CTS-v to about 600 horses.
Yeah, no 08 scheduled, and it will be a while until the 09 is ready... Caddy has done some amazing things with that new CTS---it is suppose to be the best damn car GM has produced in 40-50 years... But watch out for that new direct injection motor it is having some pedal kick-back issues and NVH problems. But over all, it is one helluva car.
5 months will fly by, put a down payment on it and wait, i think you'll really like the v8 version, i checked out a v6 version like you did, pretty cool.
