How long does it usually take for Nelson to generate a tune?

I gave up and went with someone else for my tune. I think he is just extremely busy.
I bought my HPTuner software directly from HPT and it took 3.5 weeks.
why would you buy hp tuners and a custom tune, why not one or the other? just asking as it didnt make sense to me, if you bought hp tuners read up on hps site, if youre looking for a sweet mail order tune and allen is just to hard to get a hold of try out wheatley thats one awersome tune for mail order or if youre in the houston area give him a shout or if you live in the arlington area theres dustin at trt turbo...
If I were a tuning guru I would have just bought HPTuners, You can't learn this over night, I have a 42k dollar ride and i'm not really interested in blowing it up so soon. I bought HP Tuners & a tune so I can load Nelson's tune tweaks as my mods change, I also like to datalog, I can log after a tune and send the file back for further adjustments....you can get a tune much closer this way vs. a mail in tune, plus no down time. I can also reset trouble codes. make any sense now?
Gotcha
Allen is tuning a 1000HP Vette on the salt flats.
Just got the tune was in my inbox late last night....WOW 1,000 HP Vette...Yalll have any pic's?
Sorry I wasn't fast enough, mail order tunes take 1-3 days and so do new email tunes.
Once we're rolling along, retunes are a lot quicker.
Jeez I have been trying to call for 2 days now but no one will answer the phone??
I guess $700 isnt enough for them to mess with??
I was going to buy HPT from him for the added tech support he offers but not if its going to be this hard to get in touch with the place.
They are closed on Saturday.
He is worth waiting for. Patience grasshopper. When you want to use the best it takes a little while.
Example my daughter has a minor heart issue her cardiologist is known as one of the best in the country. We have to make appointments to see him 8 months on advance.
If your business is doing that good then hire some more help.
Hey Man, don’t worry Allen always comes through for his customers. Just the very nature of their business they sometimes can get behind or will be a little slow getting back to you…Even my tuner in Houston can be hard to reach and I get frustrated too. I have been hanging out around here for a year now and I have seen this issue come up a couple of times and Allen always gets back to his customers and then they usually post up later how happy they are. If you can just be a little patient I strongly believe in the end you will be happy. I’m not advertising for Allen or anyone else for that matter this is just the way this industry can be at times when trying to reach the best, no matter if it’s your engine builder or parts supplier.
Now if I can just get a hold of my tuner, damn it! LOL its all good!
IF you called and left a message on friday, then we'll get a hold of you on Monday. If you tried calling today, Sun. and Sat., we're closed, that's why you didn't get a hold of someone.
We're not always sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring, we're outside working on other customers vehicles, but if you leave a message, someone will return your call!
nature of the business. sucks, but its the reality of it. like gator said even our houston tuner is starting to get overwhelmed but thats what happens when u r good. leave 3-5 messages eventually u should get a call back.
I called them again today and got ahold od a lady there who took my order.
I wasnt bashing Nelson AT ALL just saying that if you have a business that is doing that well then you should be able to handle any caller anytime.
Just say if I had bought a tune from them and something ended up being messed up in it, then I would have to try to call for 3 days to get ahold of someone to help me out??
That just takes customer service and throws it out the window.
Again not bashing, sorry if it seems that way.

i agree 100%, and i cant stick up for them but it tends to be that way with tuning. i dont think u were bashing at all ive felt the same way.
I agree 100%
I am having the p0315 light and trying to get to find out how to get rid of it, and it took a few days!
Now I find out it is on my dime I have to pay to get rid of the light, and none of that was posted as a warning in the product at all. So after 385 bucks, now I am facing an uncertain bill for just a 5 min. relearn for the crank, I have been quoted as high as 80 bucks. I am still looking for a small shop with some business sense to fix me up for a 10-20 spot, and not rape me.
Before I ordered a tune, I looked into buying HP Tuners etc. Way too complicated for this old boy and I got too many things to do anyway. So I ordered a tune and when problems come up [ its bound to happen with so many variables ] :duh:I just stick my old stock PCM in and wait for a different tune. So pick up a spare, throw it in the back and Don't Worry---Be Happy.:D
[ This message is not meant to inflame or upset anybody] " I don't care what my momma says---I am a nice guy ":whack:
If you haven't joined HPTuners forum I would suggest doing that and start reading and asking questions. The more you play with it the easier it is to tune. I think I'm going to buy EFILive next just because of the awsome things I've heard about it from tuners that use both. I'll always support HPTuners though since I have a pretty heavy investment in it for a home tuner.
I'm waiting for HPT to release the auto-learn tune software. It will be killer when it can tune itself!
Hey Allen, Do you do street tunes on the weekends....I need help!
I havent had any problems with Alley... ;)
Best service hands down. Does try to rip you off or anything for updates. Unlike alot of the so-called pro shops that are local...
