2001silverado

Im ready to race a hemi, the supercharger is belt driven instead of gear driven. You can hardly hear it, it sounds very familiar to a alternator under a load. Its just a very soft whine, the engine and exhaust is so loud it covers up the S/C. Havent been to the track yet but hope to see 14's, when it was stock (I mean bone stock, like driving it off the lot) it ran 15.8 with a 4.8 and 3.42's , a buddy of mine has an '06 with the 5.3 and I have beat him in the 1/4 and with gas miliage. Best of 17.8mpg now with 3.73's.

Yeah dude--keep the sleeper look. There are a bunch of more things to make that S/C work better--like a custom tune. IMO, that would be the first thing to do next!

what engine do u have? ready to race a hemi? hemi's r pretty lame. u should shoot higher like VHO or SS.

an SS doesnt impress me much for the price, a little under $40,000 and still in the 15's, no offense to anyone who has one. I love the way they look. I went to the dealership to buy all the moldings to copy it but they wanted like $2000. I would like to race one theres only a couple around where I live but I have seen some VHO's and Vortec Max's running around. If I find one I'll let you guys know how it went.

No thanks man you would smoke me, 6.0 with 10psi vs. 4.8 with 6psi.....I wish someone would get next to me at a redlight or on the interstate, I'd like to see how much of an improvement it made.

Im not saying they dont have the potential to be fast, I'm saying stock them things run some horrible times to be wearing the emblem "SS"-which stands for Super Sport. For the extra money you pay for the ss vs. a 4.8/5.3 ext. cab, it sucks for redlight to redlight. I'd rather spend the extra money in the 4.8/5.3 ext. cab and blow the doors off the ss. I test drove an ss becuase I really love the way they look, and it was just horrible. My 4.8 stock would have given this thing a really close run. Im just saying my personal opinion is that they are no where near worth the price of one.

The cool factor is high in the stock SS, the performance is low for what you get. Imagine having the same $40k and buying a base model truck and using the remainder of the 40k for a body kit, leather seats and performance mods like a built tranny and supercharger or turbo.

i agree, but id rather spend $23k for a used ss with 30k miles than buy a new one for $40k. i agree they r overpriced but if ur a smart shopper u can find them cheaper than 40k and in like new condition. im not arguing simply saying hemi's r nothing but a stock dodge these days. :thumb:

Thats cool man. :hshake: Dont let me stop you from buying an SS.....How about if I had titled this topic "Im ready to race" w/subtitle "to see my gains" just stating that Im ready to see how I do against the competiton. Would you chill with the Hemi thing?
