1995 Silverado TB350 to 2003 6.0l 4l80e Conversion

I have been researching for a couple years and am moving forward with the project as my transmission went out in the truck.

My current plan...please critique or fill in voids...

TransDapt Engine plates

EXHAUST:
Use 2003 exhaust manifolds.. where can I get some flanges that bolt up?: thx Gator
02 sensors how many and location? in Y pipe or near cat(s): removed rear O2's

TRANSMISSION:
Use 4l80e yoke on my current driveshaft
Hook up vehicle speed sensor

FUEL SYSTEM:
Inline 255 Walbro
2000 Corvette regulated fuel filter: not needed as I have a dual line rail

TBW:
The Engine is equiped with it and I believe I have the control Module but need an 03 newer pedal setup. Still need to work on getting cruise control

COOLING:
Check 95 hose to see if they fit. If not head to the local store to find something that'll work: 99 truck hoses direct fit my 34" radiator
Will need Electric fans to cool the radiator Factory F body or Truck?: Used 99 Caprice

Air Conditioning. Fab 95 bracket or make a bracket to mount 95 compressor on..have heard 92 camaro may work with some changes.

WIRING:
Sort through harness Looking for 2003 HD2500 and 1995 C1500 diagrams....any idea? Alldata?: Various sources and troubleshooting

Gauges:
try to adapt 95 sensors to lsmotor
Tach ?
Temp...in head hole... retrofitted TB factory sender
Oil Pressure? Where is a good location to tap in? : Replaced LS sender with TB factory sender
Odometer/speedometer?

ENGINE MANAGEMENT:
Will need to mod factory ... at minimum tire size/rear gear but looking into HpTuners and EFILive

I pulled the TB motor out and dropped the LSdrivetrain in.

I have ordered many parts....

I am using 99 truck radiator hoses

I bought the Corvette style filter and some adapter fittings but do not need them. I have a dual line engine :bash:

It looks like I will need to drill new holes in the frame for the trans crossmember. The mount on the 4l80e is 5-7 inches further back than the 4l60e.

Wow, that's my truck's twin(if mine had shiney paint and a narrow box).

I guess the dual line setup from a truck has a regulator built into the fuel rail. I wonder if it can handle full fuel pressure.


As for the tach, if you have in-dash tach already you can contact bakerelectronix.com for a tach module.

Yes your twin...when I first came on here few years back I thought dam* I need to do that covnersion as well.....

The dual line had a regulator on the rail? Can it hold pressure? Good question Thoughts? What about aftermarket FPR options?

I hear of these dual line setups all the time have never seen one. I guess the trucks I&#39;ve worked on have been the newer models, all single line feed. The truck radiator hoses work great, just be sure you use the ones made for your size radiator. Do you have a 28" or 34" radiator? I have the 34" so I bought the hoses to fit a one ton model truck since they usually have the 34" rad.

I&#39;ve seen vehicles with single and dual fuel lines but don&#39;t know the rhyme or reason. A year to year thing maybe?

I didn&#39;t even measure my radiator but picked up some 99 C1500 hoses that will work.

I did run into a problem today. I was gonna put the 4l80e yoke on my stock 4l60e shaft... I bought a spicer conversion joint and the diameter is correct but the yoke side is not wide enough :bash: :bash:
Anyone have a part number? I ran a 350 shaft in my 70 chevelle and bought a cross shaped shaft in the past...hmm might even be what I need now.. but I don&#39;t have a part number

what I need:

Yoke Side uses 1.188 cup diameter and 4.124 width
Driveshaft side uses 1.0640 cup diameter and 3.6350 width
The stock install utilized exterior spring clips to hold the joint in place

I went with the 99 hoses. My truck has the 34" radiator and they fit nicely

Also I made progress with other lines this weekend.
Trans cooler lines attached
PS lines attached re-using the 95 hoses
drilled/tapped/attached throttle body warmer line

I picked up another Yoke and will check it out to see if it&#39;ll fit the need.

check your dealership. on warretny cat claims they replace the whole y-pipe, scavenge the cats
and toss the rest.. theres your flanges and HO2S bungs.
2 HO2S needs generally at the collection of the four tubes per bank.

itd be cheaper to install the fuel pump in the tank and return the fuel from the return line of the
regulator on the manifold.

use the matching year pedal, i didnt and went throug hthree before finding that my 03 TAC module and
03 pedal work best than the 04/05 pedals...

cross breading the two isnt for the timid, nor the easiest fix... fork over the &#036;&#036;&#036; for the proper swap
harness... youll spend money right and have the project closer to done...

tach output from PCM to tach module (baker or dakota digital) to factory tach (note: oe factory tachs are not
fast acting, accurate, nor reliable
temperature will be harder as your OE sending unit (in driver cyl head) is a monster size and really no
way to adapt it to the LS need... like a 15mm x 1.5 LS has like a 8mm x 1.75
oil pressure can be tapped from the oil pan
if youll keep your transmission harness and DRAC.. you speedo will be fine.

First off thanks to many for offering advice (through forum and PM's). Also the folks that sold me some misc pieces I needed.

I wanted to test my wiring setup... I put a temporary install on top of the engine this morning. The motor cranked and fired for a few seconds then stalled. I did it a couple times and now am back to looking at more diagrams. It acted like it only saw ign power during cranking. I have the switched and 12V wires hooked up and confirmed that there is 12V during and after the cranking. Truck 2003 PCM, Harness, Motor

I hope to cleanup and finalize the wiring this weekend along with attaching the exhaust (need to finish the Y-pie I'm making.

You need the VATS disabled in the PCM if you haven't had it done already.

Actually waiting to get the cash to buy hptuner/nelson baseline tune ... Guess I need to come up with that cash right now?

Nelson Performance - Security Relearn for no start

well I was hoping to find a cheap vats fix.... I remember using resitors or something on a BMW conversion but it doesn't appear that will help me out.... Gonna have to beg the wife for the CC for nelson....

Gonna have to get the VATS turned off. The relearn will only work on vehicles equipped with the body control module and PCM. You can just get a hotrod tune that is a one time tune and he'll turn off whatever you need removed to get it going. I think he'll give you a discount later if you want to upgrade to a full tune.

Thanks Again. I might have to get a tune only...and wait to get the Hptuner at a later date. Trying to get this rolling before the end of the month..

wanted to give a quick update... moving along well today.

I sorted through some more wiring and started installing my aux fusebox for the misc (fans, FP, switched and 12V wires and relays.

I need to fab up some brackets to mount the late 90's caprice electric fans

figure out why the temp gauge isn't working

figure out why my trigger wire on the truck doesn't energize when switched

figure out the tach

figure out a method to get the speedo working

Buy/Find a fitting to add to the back of the intake for the power brake booster... I imagine the block off fitting just pulls out of the intake?

dang..I'm getting close I have to get this thing rolling soon!

madce more progress late last night. Oil pressure and water temp sensors installed... hopefully things will keep rolling this morning....

Bad News... I blew a brake line almost asap :mad: chit happens ... Damn glad to be this close and since there is no way for me to get parts today (wife has car) it's beerthirty in NE Ohio... Steaks will be on the grill around six:D

Rough week for me but still working through things.

Brake lines replaced.. replaced the cat back exhaust system

Cruised the truck up to my in laws yesterday .. ran pretty well. It has a slight miss at part throttle under a light load. I swapped the plugs out while there and drove home. On the trip home the miss got worse. Not sure but hoping to figure something out today. Initially I thought a tune was in order but since it got worse I will be looking at the ign/fuel system ....:eek::bash:

A better week this week. ?? I still can't communicate to the OBDII connector but I'm gonna take a closer look later today.

The truck started running rougher each day this week. Wednesday night I pulled the injectors out to verify what I thought... poor spray patterns and two pretty much stuck. I used varying chemicals to clean them ..eventually I had two that were very gummed up with gelled fuel. They took longer to clean up and I had to abruptly hit one of them to get it unstuck. After the cleanout the truck ran better.

Thursday night I seafoamed the intake and put some in the tank. Smoked for a LONG time but has been running better and better the last couple days.
