Bad weekend for the company...

OK, so I work for a sign company. We have something like 7 or 8 boom trucks - a few of them are brand new big boys that will boom out to over 100 feet (about 9 stories or so). They probably run over 100 grand a piece. Anyway, I come into work this morning and there our gate is laying on the ground all bent up. Someone came in and stole three trucks. Used one to bust through the gate and away they went. FULL of tools, welders, ladders, etc. There are some pretty unhappy people here this morning...

That sux! I hope they find them and string them up by their nuts!

With that kind of pricey equipment around, are there security cameras anywhere on the property? Would insurance companies require security cameras? Do the trucks have the company logo on them? If so, what is your company's name so we all can keep a look-out? Good luck in finding them. When you do find them, string them out on the boom, extend it to it's full length, then drop them! They deserve it...make sure you post the video on here...

that sucks. if they dont have security cameras they're simply asking for trouble with that much stuff laying around.

We have cameras, but not enough lighting. They need to hire a security company - I'm sure they will now. They caught the back ends of the trucks on video as they left the property, that's it. I'm sure they're in Mexico by now or dismantled in a warehouse somewhere.

Yeah it bites...now they're saying the estimated loss is closer to $200,000 per truck.

I'm needing me a larger MIG welder. I guess I need to put the word out since there are a few running around for sale. What day were they stolen?

Hell, they're probably in Louisiana or Arkansas by now. If the news could get out to the tv stations, somebody had to see them driving somewhere at that hour of the morning. People are very observant of things like that so early in the AM. We all way to become rich or famous because we saw, video taped or reported a crime in action.

I'm guessing they went somewhere locally and they're probably dismantled by now, or they went to Mexico. Either way, it was a gutsy move. These are pretty large trucks. They probably split up and rendezvoused somewhere.

yeah it is funny we just got in 3 new trucks man these things are nice, hell of a lot better then our bucket and crane truck we have now, it's okay though your company has insurance on all of them and also do over 70 million a year, don't think it will hurt ya'll that much

you need to estimate better cause eveytime we go against you on a job you are at least 5grand higher, but however it works i have been on the email to my friends at other sign companies and i have the word out

Yeah Chandler is known for being high. But we&#39;re usually higher because it seems like we&#39;re always in the middle of some bid package or conversion consisting of hundreds of locations. So the higher costs tend to keep us working in the areas we&#39;re set up for and where the money is at, rather than smaller stuff. That&#39;s my theory anyway.

There&#39;s a saying around here that "we don&#39;t need the practice"....they&#39;re in it for the big fish.

Yeah, I think I saw a TV commercial about the big company vs. the little jobber this weekend. The jobber guy was working out of his barn while the big company had engineers and a nice big setup. :thumb: I think it was Mueller steel buildings.

yeah we have a few bigger accounts, but we also know that the small stuff is what helps to, but then again we aren&#39;t the biggest sign company in DFW and don&#39;t have a couple of building that make Home Depots look small, you know i think it was an inside thing over there, somone who works there knew about the security and knew where the trucks were and which ones to take, cause you guys have smaller trucks they could have taken also but they took the big ones

Yeah plus there was no glass - no broken windows yet the trucks were all locked. There are some unhappy folks around here today, I know that much.

Crazy - someone spotted all three trucks parked somewhere minus the welders and tools. So we have our trucks back. Pretty big risk stealing three trucks just to take the welders.

They needed something to carry the welders in. It&#39;s hard to fit a welder in the back of a Honda. :lol:
