ouch, thats 25 mph over. he probably could have taken you to jail right then and there for street racing.

Violations that in the past would have merely incurred temporary license suspensions and possibly lead to an increase in insurance rates now also become three-year financial nightmares (and big moneymakers for the states using this method).
That's not bad  I got one for doing 121 in a 55. About $850 6 points and court ordered defenive driving classes.
At that speed you better get yourself a lawyer. Did they stop the other vehicle, too?

ya he got both of us.....he was a state tropper too...but a nice guy i talked to him about some other stuff...
Luckily you didn't get arrested for drag racing. I was stopped once for "drag racing" but it was already after the race and i had slowed down. but i didn't get arrested, cause i came up with a good story that i could have proved.

In TX it could be over $400 plus it gets reported directly to your insurance company by the DA's office.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(shwarmy @ Mar 18 2007, 01:07 PM) </div>I was racing a friend, we raced about 2 times, and i beat him both times. So, on the last race from a 30 punch i was up by about 2 trucks then i slowed down at around 95 and the guy passed me. We were both about to turn around when I see some lights flashing and it was a sheriff. They stopped me and gave me a bunch of bull of how i was racing and that they saw me. Luckly, i had my rifle and hunting gear with me, so that helped a lot. (the rifle was in the truck bed and in its hard cover) my excuise was i was coming back from hunting. And i never changed my story even through he was telling he was going to arrest me and stuff.Quote:

If you think insurance is expensive now, wait until they bill you as an 18 yr old with a street racing violation. As I said, find you a very good lawyer. If you no-contest it that is the same as admitting guilt. You know you did it but you need to do whatever it takes to keep it off your record or you'll be selling your truck to drive something you can pay cash for and carry liability only.

Yup, insurance is very expensive, especially young guys. I'm not on the insurance cause its too expensive with a 20 year old guy driving a "new" truck.
yep i would say get you a lawyer.... it may cost you more now but in teh long run it will save you TONS of cash
well worth keeping it off your record IMO
Well here in college station i got pulled over for a similar thing. 80 in a 40. Well i took it to the judge and i offered that i would plead no contest if he would allow me to take deferred adjudication. He accepted the offer and i was on 6 months probation. In that 6 months i did not get a ticket in college station and the ticket was dropped off my record. You might want to look into this. My insurance never got wind of this and i could have also gone to jail for street racing but my story was i was trying to get away from this truck who had been following me for 30 minutes.
the tropper didn't mention anything about racing...so its just a speeding ticket....and my truck is paid off but still have full coverage, my parents still pay so im not complaining lol...ya my friend did that 6 month probation thing too...im gonna look into it...how much would a lawyer cost??

Here in California insurance is mandatory, and if you cancel or let it expire the insurance company is requiered by the state to notify DMV and they'll suspend your registration on your truck.
get a hold of David S. Sprecher. he always took care of my traffic tickets back home
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gearheadnate @ Mar 19 2007, 08:29 PM) </div>Uh, is that NOT how every state is? If not, sure needs to be. I know LA is. Also get a big green sticker put on back window & license plate taken if caught without proof of insurance. :laugh:Quote:

I would not worry about a lawyer and just get differed adjudication. You will save money doing this. Just dont get a ticket in the same jurisdiction as the first ticket.
Most places won't do deferred for more than 10 MPH over the limit.
That is true but you can always ask the judge for it before you make a plea.
I dunno every state is different. Since is was just a basic speeding ticket you can man up and pay and take the points or take a class. Down in FL if you fight it they automaticaly squash the points But you have to pay them off with court fees.
Im just a lucky guy I guess... I was on my way to work and did a 0-100 at stop light. I looked everywhere but my mirror, After I shifted in to 3rd I cringed and looked in my mirror only to see a cop WAY back there with his lights on. I pulled over and thought this cop was going to rodney king my ass I never saw a cop so pissed. He jumped out of his car and said "BOY YOU TRYING TO GET MY FUCKING ATTENTION, WELL YOU SURE GOT IT! WHAT THE FUCK YOU GOING TO DO NOW WHAT! WHAT!. I looked at him and said nothing?? He took my info and went back to his car. A few mins later I see him goto his back passenger seat doing somthing! Fuck he is making room or my ass! He comes to my window and says he can get me for yada yada yada, Take to to jail impond my truck etc... Asked me if I will EVER DRIVE LIKE THAT AGAIN! I said no SIR! He said have a nice day, Gave my license and ins card back and a little card with alll the fines for my county...... I have never drove like that since... well mabey a few times :)
I just got pulled over last Thursday same as you 90 on a 65, I need to go talk to the Judge. I already called and the fine is just 180 its not that bad hopefully i can get it of my record.

Just do Defensive Driving on it and you will be fine. I got one at the end of last year for going 51 in a 30 and they gave me 90 days to do defensive driving and get a copy of my driving record. i had to pay $103 bucks for court cost, another $40 for defensive driving, and $10 for my driving record.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(GMC Hammer @ Mar 21 2007, 01:31 PM) </div>Can do, but in LA, that's for first offenses only (or if there are no offenses listed within that city/parish system).Quote:

Here in TX, if you are going more than 24 (i think) miles above limit you cant do defensive driving. My ticket came out to 168, but they gave me the option of deffered for 3 months and i payed $200.
i went at paid it today....ya 25mph or more no defenseive driving....but the ticket was only 205 not bad...i was expecting a lot more
