Some people have asked me, so I get to ask you.... what would be needed to make that puppy emissions legal? ....and, you got any pics of your book?

hay red .did you finised s10 .what is the story. haw far you with it , my new project just stop .too could to work.heater is too small.
i'm still working on it tom. this whole work on it a day at a time thing sucks. the motor is in, the manifolds are about to go on, i just had to curve the driver's side exhaust a little bit to clear the rear of the conrtol arm. the 2 rear coil packs are relocated and wires extended. i have to weld in an o2 bung on the pass side, then i'll be able to put the manifold, starter, and ac on. bought all the fuel lines, just have to hook them up. i'm running 3/8" braided steel lines.
could you or brian take a picture of the exhaust on the green truck? he said that nothing stuck below the frame and i just don't see how you could run a single exhaust and have it stay above the frame. i dont know where the crossover pipe would go. thanks.
It doesn't matter what is done to it. It will never be truly emissions legal because GM didn't offer that motor in the S10. Same as the crate LS6 with the f-bod oil pan....the LS6 is only emissions legal in the Z06 because that is the only vehicle the LS6 is offered in. You can get away with the LS6 in the f-bod and the full size trucks because the motors(4.8L,5.3L,5.7L,6.0L) are all the same external dimensions and look the same.Quote:

Still a badass truck though. :thumb:
I don't know where you are but California and Texas allow you to retrofit any engine the same year or newer than the recipient vehicle. All emission equipment from the donor engine must be intact and functional. The vehicle must also pass a sniffer test. Also, Oklahoma doesn't even safety/emission test vehicles anymore.
Exactly what the guy with the really long screen name said. As long as the motor is the same year as the vehicle or newer, from the same manufacturer, and all the emissions equipment is intact, you are good to go!! :thumb:
Although, there is always option B (the one that I use). Make sure that your rents stay living in a non-emissions controlled county. So when you have to move to an emissions controlled county you can just keep the truck registered with them. Heck even my insurance claims that my rig lives 50 miles from me and is only driven by me 10% of the time.
