Anyone ever seen this kind of breakage? Could the joint breaking have caused this? The full throttle second shift blew it. Think my tranny is ok? Looking for a yoke now.

maybe the diff broke and busted the driveshaft. Others have destroyed the transmission when the diff broke. You may have gotten off lucky.

They make a pro series diff for the NBS trucks? Damn, I wanted one of those and they fit the OBS trucks with specific bearings. :whack:

Ah, I haven't seen many Z71s with an open rear.
That's just a start. Diff, gears, bearings, lube, seals, new rear cover, yoke, driveshaft repair.... OUCH!
Better off going to a 9.5" SF at least.

That would be a semi-floating rear end. The axle configuration is totally different than the 8.5" rear.
damn man have not seen carnage like that on the street since i shelled the last rear in my old transam.... sucks for sure sorry to see that... :bash:

Yes but the 9.5 will bolt up just like stock and you can use GM hardware. Yes, keeping six lugs is no sweat.

my Z71 had an open diff and the spider gears had only 3 to 5 teeth left on each side. Yes I have seen alot of diffs like that too :eek:. Its common in the Z hate to say it. not tryin to bash on chevs

It spun 1 wheel an aweful lot.
My wife was so pissed I was able slip this purchase through. She has no idea how much all this crap really cost. I sure do love her.

Sony radio I swapped out while the truck is lame and waiting on the rear parts to get pressed on. The damn thing died shortly after. I put the old one back in and it was dead too. :sad:
I looked for my test light for an hour before I realized the LED for the switches I wired in would work. The radio has power but won't work. Fuse not blown on either radio. Both are sonys so no rewiring. I realized the battery was dead when I tried to roll up the windows. They were real sloooooooooowwww . . . Might be the problem.
Well crap. Leave this morning taking my wife to the Eye Dr. in Atlanta and anything above 75 mph gets this weird vibration that gets worse the faster you go. :thumbdown: :whack:
Drive shaft ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? The hunt begins.
Well Drive shaft is warped. I suspected as much with as much trauma it went through. I will be calling Dennys driveshafts in the morning. Anyone know how long I should expect and maybe which shaft to get.
I am all ears for suggestions.
